Job Overview

The Division of Transplantation in the Department of Surgery has been an academic leader in organ transplantation for over 50 years and is a major part of one of the oldest and most successful transplant centers in the world. Since the 1960s, when the first successful kidney transplants in Minnesota were done at the University Hospitals, our transplant program has completed more than 13,000 organ transplants and has restored thousands of patients to health through this gift of life. Our program is one of the largest and most experienced in the country, and we have an extraordinary legacy of excellence in patient care, surgical outcomes, research and training. We've performed many "world's first" transplants, including intestinal, allo-islet cell, and pancreas—plus many more "firsts" in the state, making the University of Minnesota a preferred destination for transplant care.

  

What you will do:

  • You will play a meaningful role in supporting providers and patients during their clinic visits.

  • Monitoring clinic schedules, greeting and guiding patients to their examination room, and collecting pertinent medical information for their health records.

  • Act as valued partner in delivering an outstanding patient experience by coordinating and communicating with other members of the health care team, including nursing staff, advanced practice providers, and physicians, among others.

  • Depending on scope of certification or license, some employees will be assisting with minor in office procedures, giving injections and immunizations and other laboratory/sample collections.

 

What you will need:

  • As an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT): NREMT & MN EMT certification

  • As a Medical Assistant (MA):Possess a Medical Assistant Diploma with proof of completion of a 160-hour externship OR hold AAMA Certification OR AMT Registration.

  • As a Visit Facilitator: In the absence of a certification or license, a high school diploma or GED and 1+ year of customer service experience is required

 

If selected for hire, compensation and job classification will be individually determined based on a candidate’s specific background, including licensure, certifications, and experience level.
