Job Overview

The Senior Benefits Analyst is a senior professional role within the Total Rewards function, responsible for supporting the administration, analysis, and continuous improvement of enterprise health, welfare, and retirement programs.

This role applies deep functional expertise to ensure accurate program execution, compliance, and a high-quality employee experience. The position partners closely with Benefits leadership, HR, Payroll, vendors, and external advisors to support scalable and compliant benefits delivery across a large, complex organization.


Scope & Impact (Job Architecture Alignment)

  • Supports benefits programs impacting a large, multi-entity employee population.
  • Exercises judgment within established processes, policies, and guidelines.
  • Responsible for data accuracy, process execution, and issue resolution.
  • Contributes to program effectiveness through analysis and recommendations.
  • Impacts employee experience, operational quality, and compliance outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

Benefits Administration & Operations

  • Administer health and welfare benefit programs, including medical, dental, vision, life, disability, wellbeing, and leave-related programs.
  • Execute enrollments, life event changes, eligibility updates, and system transactions in benefits platforms.
  • Partner with Payroll and HRIS teams to ensure accurate benefit deductions, imputed income, and data interfaces.
  • Research and resolve complex employee and vendor issues, escalating as appropriate.

Retirement Plan Administration (401(k))

  • Support the day‑to‑day administration of the company’s 401(k) plan, including contributions, loans, distributions, and participant transactions.
  • Coordinate with recordkeepers, payroll, and external vendors to ensure timely and accurate data processing and reconciliation.
  • Assist with compliance activities, including nondiscrimination testing support, contribution monitoring, and required participant notices.
  • Maintain plan documentation, administrative procedures, and audit-support materials.
  • Provide operational support for plan changes, vendor transitions, and regulatory updates.

Vendor Coordination & Service Delivery

  • Partner with brokers, carriers, and third‑party administrators to support service delivery and issue resolution.
  • Monitor day‑to‑day vendor activity and escalate performance concerns to Benefits leadership.
  • Support data requests, reporting needs, and administrative coordination with external partners.

Compliance & Risk Support

  • Ensure benefit and retirement transactions are administered in accordance with plan documents and regulatory requirements (e.g., ERISA, ACA, IRS rules).
  • Support audit preparation, compliance reviews, and regulatory filings as needed.
  • Maintain accurate records, documentation, and standard operating procedures.

Data, Analysis & Reporting

  • Analyze benefits utilization, enrollment, and cost data to identify trends and anomalies.
  • Prepare reports and insights to support Benefits leadership decision-making.
  • Identify opportunities to improve processes, data quality, and employee experience.

Communication & Employee Support

  • Support development and delivery of benefits communications, including enrollment materials, guides, and program updates.
  • Respond to employee inquiries and provide clear, accurate information on benefits and 401(k) plan features.
  • Assist with training HR partners and managers on benefits programs and processes.

Knowledge, Skills & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, business, finance, or related field. (or equivalent experience).
  • Five years of experience in benefits administration within a complex organization.
  • Working knowledge of health and welfare and retirement plan administration.
  • Familiarity with applicable regulations (e.g., ERISA, ACA, IRS guidelines).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work across systems and stakeholders.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred

  • Experience with benefits administration platforms and HR/Payroll systems.
  • Exposure to 401(k) compliance processes and audits.
  • CEBS or progress toward certification.

Decision Authority

  • Resolves day‑to‑day administrative and operational issues within established guidelines.
  • Escalates policy, financial, compliance, or vendor decisions to Benefits leadership.
  • Provides recommendations based on analysis but does not own final decision-making authority.

 

Salary: $100,000 - $135,000

Compensation: In addition to base pay, eligible for discretionary bonus based on company and individual performance.
