AI Architect - Freelance
Job Description
About the role
Bluecrux is setting up a company-wide AI Transformation programme spanning corporate-services efficiency, internal solution development, productivity in consulting delivery, and the AI offering towards clients.
To accelerate this ambition, Bluecrux is looking for a senior, hands-on AI Architect for a focused freelance engagement from as soon as possible until the end of September 2026.
The role is deliberately technical. It complements the business framing, change management, project management, and legal/compliance ownership that sit with the Head of AI Transformation. The AI Architect partners closely with the Head of AI Transformation and the relevant internal teams, while being accountable for the technical vision, architecture, delivery stack, quick wins, and knowledge transfer.
Key responsibilities
Define the AI architecture vision and roadmap: shape a target AI architecture across Bluecrux's AI ambitions, translate ambition into a feasible technical plan, sequence the highest-leverage building blocks, and give clear build-versus-buy guidance across LLM providers, agent/orchestration frameworks, platforms, and vendors.
Build a reusable technical stack for consulting delivery: design a robust reference architecture for LLM- and agent-based solutions that makes consultants measurably more productive, including tooling, reusable accelerators, knowledge bases, integration patterns, and an approach to evaluation and quality.
Deliver quick wins and proofs of value: identify two to three high-value, low-friction use cases and take them to a working result, hands-on, to prove value, validate the architecture in practice, and build internal confidence.
Upskill Bluecrux AI champions: coach and challenge internal AI champions who already build basic agents and prototypes, raising the bar on architecture, reusability, quality, security, and ambition.
Set technical standards and guardrails: establish baseline standards for model selection, evaluation, security, data and IP handling, and cost management, providing the technical input that underpins broader AI governance.
