Description
Key Responsibilities
- Develop clear project charters, scope definitions, milestones, timelines, and deliverables for initiatives.
- Build and maintain project schedules, resource plans, and budgets using industry standard project management tools.
- Identify project interdependencies and establish strategies to address risks, constraints, and required alignment.
- Manages status of product development projects and budgets, including schedule updates, budget tracking, and reporting, and adjusting priorities based on available funding.
- Provide strategic direction for project planning by managing priorities, risks, and resource needs across the project portfolio, identifying while removing barriers that impede project progress.
- Forecast and allocate appropriate resources throughout the project lifecycle —including personnel, tools, and training; support teams as needed to accomplish project goals.
- Ensure appropriate departmental resources are assigned to the project and are available to effectively maintain the quality system (people, facilities, tools, and training).
- Oversee day-to-day project activities to ensure on time delivery of milestones and outcomes.
- Facilitate requirements of planning, elicitation, and management, ensuring they reflect stakeholder needs.
- Implement mechanisms for proactive issue resolution, escalation management, and problem solving with teams.
- Partner with functional units to resolve issues and support project execution throughout the product lifecycle.
- Monitor projects from initiation through delivery, identifying issues, and developing resolutions to meet quality and customer satisfaction goals.
- Lead cross functional teams in evaluating, developing, and executing projects for new product development to ensure progress against milestones.
- Oversee operational aspects of projects and maintain partnership between Eng., quality, ops, and bus. stakeholders.
- Support the development and implementation of cross-functional processes that enable effective delivery of new products and improvements.
- Serve as a primary point of contact for project stakeholders, ensuring alignment and effective coordination across teams.
- Drive proactive communication and stakeholder engagement throughout the project lifecycle to ensure deliverables meet business needs.
- Provide support to other employees, teams, and sales personnel as needed.
- Represent the project organization in briefings to the Executive Leadership Team and CEO, articulating challenges, successes, and strategic recommendations with clarity and confidence.
- Influences stakeholders at all levels—including senior leaders—to enable timely decisions, promote accountability, and advance project goals.
- Identify, assess, and mitigate project risks and issues throughout the lifecycle.
- Ensure compliance with Quality Management Systems, Design Controls, Regulatory Standards, and relevant federal/international regulations.
- Apply to relevant quality and regulatory standards consistently throughout all project activities.
- Conduct post project evaluations to identify successful elements, areas for improvement, and lessons learned to inform future projects.
Skills Knowledge and Expertise
- Bachelor’s degree in business, Engineering, Management, Computer Science, or related field.
- Required 5-8 years of professional experience
- Typically, 3-5 years of project management experience, depending on industry and project complexity
- At least successful completion of 1 comprehensive project with cross-functional team members
- Experience in medical device, healthcare, or related industry.
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
- Proficient knowledge of IEC 62304, ISO 14971, EU MDR and FDA Design Controls and Submission standards.
- Demonstrated record of accomplishment of successfully leading projects to completion.
- Highly developed skill set in project leadership practices, including the ability to balance risk, effectively influence diverse teams, and ownership of responsibility for outcomes.
- Excellent downward, lateral, and upward communication skills.
- Ability to make effective decisions when presented with multiple options.
- Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
- Proficiency in project management tools (e.g., Smart Sheet, Gantt charts, dashboards, task management systems).
