Raymond James is seeking a strategic and results-driven Director, Technology – HR Systems (Workday) to lead the vision, execution, and continuous transformation of our HR and Payroll technology ecosystem.This role serves as a key partner to HR, Payroll, Finance, and IT leadership, driving an integrated technology strategy that enhances workforce capabilities, improves operational efficiency, and enables scalable business growth. The Director will balance long-term strategy with hands-on execution, ensuring delivery of high-impact initiatives while maintaining a stable, high-performing platform.
Job Description
This is a hybrid role based in St. Petersburg, FL (minimum 50% in-office).
Role Scope & Impact
Lead and scale a cross-functional team of 8 associates and 6+ contractors (engineering, BA, QA, PM, architecture) based in the US, Brazil & India
Own the end-to-end Workday HCM platform, including roadmap, delivery, operations, and innovation
Drive measurable outcomes across HR, Payroll, and Finance technology initiatives
Influence enterprise decisions through strong partnership with senior leadership
Key Responsibilities
Strategy & Leadership: Define and execute a multi-year HR technology strategy aligned with enterprise priorities, advancing innovation, automation, and AI-driven insights
Business Planning: Develop and manage annual business plans, including budgets, roadmaps, KPIs, and headcount; build business cases for key initiatives
Delivery & Execution: Lead delivery of Workday projects as well as BAU (business as usual) activities, ensuring scalable, secure, and efficient solutions across the platform
Operational Excellence: Manage function performance against KPIs; optimize resource capacity and ensure effective prioritization across initiatives
Stakeholder Partnership: Collaborate with senior leadership, architecture, and business partners to resolve complex challenges and align technology to business needs
People Leadership: Build and lead a high-performing team; set clear objectives, drive accountability, and develop talent
Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, MIS, or related field
12+ years of IT experience, including senior leadership roles
5+ years leading Workday HR systems in a complex enterprise environment
Proven success delivering large-scale technology initiatives and driving strategic outcomes
Strong financial, communication, and stakeholder management skills
Demonstrated ability to build and develop high-performing teams
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with Workday integrations and advanced capabilities
Background in HR transformation and SaaS HRIS implementations
Financial services industry experience
Workday certification
