Position Summary
Audubon is seeking a Senior Consultant, Heavy Industrial Market to serve as a part-time technical subject matter expert supporting business development, project strategy, and technical execution for heavy industrial clients. This role will focus primarily on metals and cement plant projects, providing industry expertise, client insight, technical guidance, and support for proposals, project planning, and market development activities.
The Senior Consultant will work remotely and collaborate with Audubon’s engineering, construction, estimating, procurement, and business development teams to help position the company for opportunities in metals, cement, minerals processing, and related heavy industrial markets.
Tasks and Responsibilities
The Senior Consultant, Heavy Industrial Market will:
- Provide technical subject matter expertise for metals, cement, and heavy industrial project opportunities.
- Support Audubon’s business development efforts by identifying market opportunities, client needs, and project drivers.
- Advise internal teams on heavy industrial facility requirements, project risks, constructability, execution strategies, and technical considerations.
- Assist with client discussions, technical presentations, proposal development, and pursuit strategy.
- Review scopes of work, project requirements, technical documents, and proposal materials for accuracy and completeness.
- Provide guidance on metals and cement plant processes, equipment, facility layouts, utilities, material handling systems, and supporting infrastructure.
- Support early project planning, feasibility assessments, conceptual studies, FEL/FEED efforts, and capital project development.
- Help evaluate project opportunities, including technical fit, execution approach, risks, and resource needs.
- Collaborate with engineering, procurement, construction, estimating, and project management teams as needed.
- Share market intelligence related to metals, cement, minerals processing, decarbonization, modernization, expansions, and plant upgrades.
- Support Audubon’s reputation as a knowledgeable and trusted partner in the heavy industrial market.
Required Qualifications
- 15+ years of experience in heavy industrial engineering, construction, operations, consulting, or project development.
- Direct project experience with metals facilities and cement plants.
- Strong understanding of industrial capital projects, including engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, and startup.
- Experience supporting projects such as plant expansions, facility upgrades, process improvements, material handling systems, utilities, infrastructure, or major equipment installations.
- Ability to provide technical guidance to business development, engineering, estimating, and project execution teams.
- Strong communication, presentation, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently in a part-time, remote advisory role.
- Availability to participate in virtual meetings, client discussions, and occasional travel if required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Four-year ABET-accredited engineering degree preferred
- Professional Engineering license preferred
- Prior experience with EPC, EPCM, engineering consulting, construction, or owner/operator organizations.
- Experience with steel, aluminum, copper, lithium, nickel, battery materials, aggregates, clinker, cement grinding, kilns, mills, conveyors, bulk material handling, dust collection, environmental systems, or plant modernization projects.
- Experience supporting proposals, technical reviews, feasibility studies, FEL/FEED, constructability reviews, or project execution planning.
- Established relationships within the metals, cement, minerals, or heavy industrial markets.
- Knowledge of decarbonization, emissions reduction, electrification, alternative fuels, energy efficiency, and sustainability initiatives in heavy industry.
Working Conditions
This is a part-time, remote position. Work will primarily be performed from a home office environment with regular virtual interaction with Audubon teams and clients. Occasional travel may be required for client meetings, project site visits, workshops, or industry events. Site visits may require compliance with client and Audubon safety requirements, including use of personal protective equipment.
