Job Description
Food Service Secretary
Position Purpose
Coordinates the scheduling of Food Service employees, reviews and pays bills, and
prepares reports.
Essential Functions:
• Assists with school communications (e.g. distributes food service information to
the various schools and buildings).
• Types, files, retrieves, staples, copies and distributes various records and
documents (e.g. notices, forms, reports, requisitions, purchase orders, work
orders, accident reports, menus, etc.).
• Sorts and distributes mail.
• Maintains staff attendance and substitution records.
• Places and receives telephone calls for the department; directs calls and visitors to
appropriate district personnel.
• Assists in the preparation of food service records.
• Sorts, distributes, copies and submits required state and federal reports.
• Orders and maintains inventory of office supplies.
• Pays department bills
Other Responsibilities:
• Prepares special projects and assignments.
• Helps prepare for fire, health, and safety inspections.
• Assists with special district events as directed (e.g., banquets, etc.).
• Performs other duties as directed.
Physical Requirements:
• Stand and sit on a frequent basis over a seven-hour period. Work can be modified
to be performed in a sit or stand only basis during the workday.
• Fine motor skills required for use in pincher grasp and typing.
Working Conditions:
• Work is generally indoors in an office setting.
Minimum Education:
• High School Diploma or GED
