
Development Support Worker/ Companion - Autism experience

We are seeking a compassionate, patient, and engaging Developmental Support Worker or Caregiver/Companion to support a young male client with autism. The client experiences social anxiety and is looking for someone who can help him build confidence and enjoy social and recreational activities in the community.
- Engage the client in enjoyable community outings and activities such as: Going to the movies, the mall, or the arcade
- Grabbing a tea or coffee and chatting
- Supporting participation in leisure and social activities
- Provide gentle encouragement and emotional support to help reduce social anxiety.
- Promote independence, social skills, and a positive self-image through meaningful interactions.
- Maintain professionalism, respect, and confidentiality at all times.
- Experience or education in Developmental Services, Personal Support Worker, Social Work, Psychology, nursing or a related field preferred.
- Previous experience supporting individuals with autism or social anxiety.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and relationship-building skills.
- Reliable, patient, and compassionate.
- Ability to meet client at Eaton Centre Downtown, 2-3 times a week, 1pm-5pm (preferably Tuesdays & Thursdays)
- Current First Aid/CPR and Vulnerable Sector Check required.
- Fully vaccinated against Covid
