Job Description
What You'll be Doing:
Install, maintain, and repair domestic potable and sanitary piping systems. Install, maintain, and repair process piping systems, including chilled water, steam, air, gas systems, and high- and low-pressure steam lines. Troubleshoot and repair piping systems, including valves, gaskets, controls, and pipe sections. Work independently or under the guidance of a Crew Chief or Supervisor as needed. Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, manufacturer instructions, and verbal directions to install and maintain piping systems and controls. Utilize computer systems and appropriate software for work orders, purchase orders, and communication. Assist with training lower-level industrial plumbers. Overtime, both scheduled and unscheduled, may be required. Participation in an on-call rotation, typically one week at a time, is required. Work may involve adverse weather conditions, confined spaces, and heights. Must adhere to all Purdue University safety procedures and training requirements.
The typical work schedule for this position is Monday–Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
