
Groundskeeper
Job Description
HOURLY RATE OF PAY: $16.00-19.00/hour
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Performs lawn maintenance duties including, but not limited to mowing grass, trimming trees, raking leaves, weed eating, mulching, seeding.
Picks up litter, empties trash/recycling receptacles; disposes of it properly.
Drags, rakes, and stripes ballfields.
Performs custodial/janitorial duties to maintain City land, buildings, streets, parks, and rights-of-way.
Installs landscaping and maintains landscaped grounds and beds.
Cleans and maintains equipment used for ballfield, park grounds, and building maintenance.
Assists with recreation tournaments and other special events logistics.
MARGINAL FUNCTIONS
Performs related work as required.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Knowledge of safety hazards and precautions.
Skilled at utilizing various tools and equipment for grounds maintenance.
Ability to understand and follow simple oral and written instructions.
Ability to perform heavy manual labor for extended periods of time in a variety of weather conditions (e.g. extreme heat or cold, rain, snow, etc.).
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
Ability to work well independently and in a group.
Ability to work weekends or evening hours.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
This position consists of primarily medium work, requiring the incumbent to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 20 pounds (or less) of force frequently, in order to lift/carry, push/pull, or otherwise move objects. MENTAL REQUIREMENTS

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Graduation from an accredited high school or GED equivalent.
Possession of a valid Class D Driver's License.
