
Program/Facility Coordinator - Community Events
Job Description
Incumbent serves as Coordinator for the Community Events Area, with responsibility for the development, planning, implementation, and evaluation of community special events programs.
Evaluate community needs to determine and prepare event and program proposals to the Recreation Services General Manager.
Manages all aspects of Arts related programming.
Actively seeks out community partnerships, collaborations, and contracts with agencies and organizations that assist with the facilitation of activities and services, and support the efforts of the Recreation Services Area
Develops and supports marketing and outreach efforts to promote programs and events, including the creation and distribution of promotional materials, and cultivation of sponsorships and financial support from local businesses.
Manages part-time staff, interns and volunteers for special events, activities and other specialized recreational services
Oversees management of the mobile stage, Waldron Hill and Buskirk stage, Hopewell stage, sound equipment, special use permits, and rental requests.
Represents the department at external community group and agency meetings, acting as a strategic liaison to relay key updates and event recommendations back to the Recreation Services General Manager.
Assists Recreation Services General Manager with budget management, presentation preparation, and department wide events.
Take all reasonable steps to maintain a safe work environment.
Occasionally serves as escort for off-site activities.
Travels to state, regional and national meetings, and other professional training programs.
Performs related duties as assigned.
A Bachelor’s Degree in Recreation Administration, Arts Administration, or equivalent knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential duties of the position.
Minimum experience equivalent to one year with supervisory experience required.
Experience and knowledge of sound production, preferred.
Knowledge of the design, planning and implementation of special events.
Ability to direct, train, coordinate, and evaluate the work of others, including interns, part time staff, and volunteers.
Ability to obtain certification for administering American Red Cross First Aid, CPR, and AED within the first six months of employment.
Maintain a valid license to safely transport and deliver event materials across multiple venues.

Incumbent performs duties which are broad in scope and impact and require the consideration of complex variables and their potential interrelationships in the assessment, design, and implementation of short and long-range goals and objectives of the Community Events Area.
Incumbent must exercise independent judgment and be able to perform a variety of duties in all weather conditions.Incumbent is expected to manage multiple projects and deadlines and manage concerns associated with large events and associated crowds and participants (i.e. weather judgment calls, crowd control from 50-10,000, liability of event).

A considerable amount of physical effort and seasonally long hours may be required to accomplish assigned job duties in a variety of weather conditions.
Incumbent maintains frequent contact with department superiors, staff, and other departments to ensure effective operation of Area programs and events, requiring the ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
Frequent contact is maintained with members of various boards and commissions, and members of the community and program participants for a variety of purposes including explanation and interpretation of policy and program goals, coordination of activities, alternative funding sources,and rendering program services.
