Job Description Maintenance Mechanic A
(Maintenance)
JOB DIMENSIONS:
Job Summary:
Under general supervision, repairs and maintains facility, machinery, and equipment; and performs related duties as assigned.
Reports to:
Maintenance Supervisor and/or Maintenance Manager
Examples of Duties and Responsibilities:
Repairs and maintains machines, parts, and equipment including lathes, mills, drill presses, grinders, bag houses, dust collectors, blast booths, hoists, and related equipment;
Sets up, identifies, and orders replacement parts, and repairs work in accordance with specifications guidelines;
Welds and fabricates machinery;
Makes adjustments to machinery as needed;
Cleans and lubricates production machinery as needed;
Performs finish carpentry as needed;
Performs painting projects as needed;
Draws prints as needed;
Regular punctuality, attendance, and absence reporting in conformance with company policies is essential to the successful performance of this position; and
Fully comply with company rules, policies, procedures, and safety guidelines to ensure safe and effective operations.
QUALIFICATIONS GUIDELINES:
Any combination equivalent of, but not limited to, the following:
Experience/Training/Education:
Considerable experience, training, and/or education in the repair and maintenance of industrial machinery; and
Minimum of five years welding experience.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
Considerable knowledge of the methods and techniques used in repairing and maintaining production machines;
Basic knowledge of electricity;
Basic painting skills;
Ability to clean, lubricate, and maintain production equipment;
Considerable knowledge of tools and materials necessary for repair and maintenance of industrial machinery;
Ability to operate hand, power, and welding tools;
Knowledge of safe work practices and procedures;
Ability to understand and follow work instructions;
Ability to read and interpret maintenance and repair specifications;
Finish carpentry skills; and
Ability to read, follow and draw basic layout prints.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to bend reach, lift, move, and carry tools and materials weighing up to 25 pounds unassisted;
Lifting, moving, or carrying tools and materials weighing over 25 pounds requires assistance by a co-worker or lifting equipment;
Ability to stretch, bend and reach work areas; and
Ability to perform essential functions of the job, as defined; and
Reasonable accommodations provided upon request.
Special Requirements:
Company certification in the operation of a forklift;
Safety shoes required; and
Soft-sole shoes required if/when working on roof.
