Coordinates surgical dates by scheduling procedures and ensuring availability of necessary resources.
Reviews preoperative instructions with patients to ensure they understand preparation requirements.
Registers patients and procedures with the appropriate hospital scheduling department.
Coordinates multi-specialty cases by organizing the involvement of various surgeons and medical professionals.
Correlates pre-admission testing and surgical clearance appointments to ensure all necessary tests are completed.
Assists patients and families with hospital information and accommodations as needed.
Prepares patient chart orders for the surgeon, ensuring all necessary documentation is complete.
Obtains authorization for hospital admission from the patient’s insurance carrier.
Maintains and updates physicians' surgical schedules, coordinating patient procedures, meetings, and various appointments.
Updates patient accounts with hospital pre-certification numbers, admission dates, and postoperative days.
Organizes billing information, including operative, pathology, and CPT code sheets.
Performs clinical intake according to policy and procedures as a PRN Medical Assistant.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Monday- Friday 8am-430pm Outpatient Cardiovascular Clinic
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Experience with word processing and computers preferred. [Required]
Able to communicate in English [Required]
Education:
High School Grad or Equiv [Required]
Field of Study:
N/A
Work Experience:
1+ medical terminology, icd-9/10 and cpt-4 coding experience [Preferred]
Medical office experience as cashier or receptionist [Required]
Additional Information:
Graduate of a recognized Medical Assistant program through an educational institution accredited by one of the following:
Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (“CAAHEP”), or Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (“ABHES”)
Licenses and Certifications:
Basic Life Support - CPR Cert (BLS) [Required]
Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) [Required] OR Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) [Required] OR Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) [Required] OR National Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA) [Required] OR Nationally Registered Certified Medical Assistant (NRCMA) [Required] OR Clinical Medical Assistant Certification (CMAC) [Required]
