Job Description

The Opportunity

The Occupational Therapist (OT) is responsible for the assessment of function and adaptive behaviour and the treatment and prevention of disorders which affect function or adaptive behaviour in order to develop, maintain, rehabilitate, or augment function of adaptive behaviour in the areas of self-care, productivity and leisure.

What You Will Do

  • Provide quality occupational therapy services to residents, ensuring safe, ethical, and resident-centered care.

  • Conduct assessments on admission and ongoing, contributing to individualized care and treatment plans.

  • Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to establish treatment goals and communicate care plans effectively.

  • Implement therapeutic programs that support residents in achieving identified goals.

  • Monitor and evaluate resident progress, adjusting interventions as needed.

  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation related to occupational therapy services.

  • Promote, maintain, and restore resident health through appropriate interventions while ensuring comfort and safety.

  • Identify and report safety concerns, contributing to a safe environment and continuous improvement in care practices.

What You Bring

  • A good standing with the applicable provincial regulatory board and the Canadian Association of Occupational Therapist.

  • Baccalaureate degree in Occupational Therapy required or completion of Rehabilitation Therapist Diploma.

  • Prior experience in continuing care/gerontology preferred.

  • Advocating for the role of occupational therapy to help improve the lives of residents.

  • A desire to help others with compassion and empathy.

  • Excellent organizational skills required, minimum of two years of geriatric clinical experience preferred.

  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written skills with Resident/families and staff required.

  • Ability to work independently and as a member of an interdisciplinary team required.

  • Must provide a complete and current (within six months) Vulnerable Sector Check (including a Criminal Background Check) or be willing to obtain one.
