Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Cook to join our team at Goldwater Care Bloomington. As a Cook, you will play a vital role in preparing food and maintaining the quality of our nutritional services. Your primary responsibility will be to prepare meals that are both palatable and appetizing, while ensuring the highest standards of food safety and sanitation.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Demonstrate the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action

• Deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies, and the general public

• Maintain the care and use of supplies, equipment, and the appearance of work areas

• Perform regular inspections of food service areas for sanitation, order, safety, and proper performance of assigned duties

• Support the facility's philosophy of care and strive to achieve its goals and objectives

Qualifications:

• Must possess, as a minimum, a 10th grade education

• One (1) year dietary experience in a healthcare facility or other institution is preferred, but is not required

Job Requirements:

• Prepare food that is palatable and appetizing in appearance by cooking, baking, roasting, frying, cutting, chopping, slicing, mincing, etc.

• Prepare foods in accordance with the following Food and Nutrition Service requirements as necessary: general, 2 and 4 gram sodium, diabetic and calorie controlled, high protein, low cholesterol, low fat, bland, mechanical soft, soft, puree, renal and liquid

• Ensure that food preparation meets the daily meal schedules

• Follow standardized recipes in food preparation to ensure quality of foods prepared

• Prepare the correct amount of foods as designated by the Food and Nutrition Services Supervisor

• Set up sample plates demonstrating correct serving portions

• Serve food on the tray line and to the staff as assigned by the Food and Nutrition Services Supervisor

• Control food and labor costs without compromising the high standard of food service quality

Salary: $16 - $18 HOURLY
