About the Role
The key objective of the role is to maximize financial flexibility through capital structure planning and accessing external capital and funding required for the Group to manage liquidity needs and to fund strategic initiatives.The position is focused in equal parts on external stakeholders, including lending and underwriting banks, debt investors, credit rating agencies, and regulators, as well as internal stakeholders including the Group Treasurer, Chief Capital Officer, and the Group Chief Financial Officer.
The role reports directly to the Head of External Capital and Funding.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Capital Structure Optimization – Contribute to the Group’s capital management plan, debt and leverage strategy, working closely with Group Capital Management, Integrated Reporting, Chief Actuary Office team, and other functions as required
- Bond Market Access – Plan, structure, and execute capital markets bond offerings, including the issuance of senior notes and capital-eligible subordinated securities
- Credit Investor Relations – Establish credit investor engagement strategies, with primary responsibility for credit investor presentation materials in close coordination with Group Investor Relations and maintaining a comprehensive database of the Group’s credit investors
- Credit Facility Management – Project manager for the renewal, amendments, and expansion of the Group’s committed credit facilities, as well as execution of any term and/or acquisition financing loans as needed
- Share Buy-back Programme – Execution and optimization of the Group’s share buy-back activities, involving coordination with external banking partners, as well as internal teams such as Group Legal and the Corporate Secretary’s office
- MTN Programme Management – Project manager for the annual and interim updates of the Group’s Medium-Term Note & Securities Programme, working closely with Integrated Reporting, Group Legal & Compliance, and other functions as required
- Bank Relationship Management – Develop relationships with the Group’s core lending relationship banks. Monitor business activities, with a focus on ensuring business activity and fees are distributed appropriately across the bank relationship group depending upon capabilities and quality of coverage
- Funding Derivatives – Implementation of risk management, interest expense reduction, and hedging strategies involving the use of derivatives related to the Group’s funding activities and multi-currency cash flows
- Subsidiary Funding – Support the Group’s subsidiaries related to the structuring and execution of senior or subordinated capital instruments, whether placed internally to intra-group companies or externally to third-party investors
- Regulatory Engagement – Contribute to interactions with the Group’s regulator, the Hong Kong Insurance Authority, as it relates to the issuance or redemption of debt capital instruments, recovery and resolution planning, as well as broader leverage and debt issuance strategy
- Innovation – Explore and refine innovative funding ideas and structures to further complement the Group’s existing financing toolkit
Minimum Job Requirements:
- Education – undergraduate degree, financial major and CFA strongly preferred
- Experience – 5-10+ years, depending on background. Experienced in finance, treasury, banking, capital markets, actuarial, fixed income or related work; good understanding and interest in financial markets and products

- Adherence to highest standards of conduct, including understanding the importance of confidentiality as it relates to sensitive financial and market information
