About the Role

An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced Grade 4 Neuropsychologist to join St Vincent's Hospital Melbourne's Health Independence Program (HIP) Cognitive Dementia & Memory Service (CDAMS) – Geriatric Medical Clinic (GMC).

CDAMS-GMC is a specialist outpatient service supporting adults in the community experiencing changes in cognition, memory and daily functioning. Working within a highly skilled multidisciplinary team, you will play a key role in the assessment and diagnosis of individuals presenting with possible dementia and other cognitive disorders. This role requires advanced diagnostic expertise, excellent clinical judgement and the ability to provide high-quality psychoeducation, supportive counselling and management recommendations to clients, families, carers and healthcare professionals. The successful applicant will also bring an understanding of capacity-related issues and experience applying neuropsychological principles to younger adults presenting with acquired brain injury (ABI) or intellectual disability (ID), and their families.

Please note: The CDAMS-GMC clinics operate on Mondays and Thursday mornings, and availability to work on these days is essential.

Classification:
Psychologist Grade 4 Year 1 – Year 5 (PM1 – PM5)
$123,302 – $148,309 per annum (pro rata for part time)

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive neuropsychological assessments for clients presenting with cognitive, memory and functional concerns.

  • Contribute to the diagnosis and management of dementia and related cognitive disorders.

  • Provide psychoeducation, supportive counselling and practical management strategies for clients and carers.

  • Deliver expert advice to multidisciplinary colleagues and external service providers.

  • Assess and provide guidance regarding capacity-related issues where appropriate.

  • Apply neuropsychological expertise to clients with acquired brain injury, intellectual disability and other complex presentations.

  • Collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary team to deliver person-centred care.

Your Contribution

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Current registration as a Psychologist with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).

  • Endorsement in Clinical Neuropsychology from the Psychology Board of Australia.

  • A Master's or Doctoral qualification in Clinical Neuropsychology recognised by the Australian Psychological Society (APS).

  • Eligibility to register as a Board-approved student supervisor.

  • Extensive knowledge of dementia, memory disorders and early diagnostic assessment.

  • Strong understanding of the psychological, behavioural, social and health impacts associated with cognitive decline.

  • Highly developed verbal and written communication skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams.

  • Current Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check, or willingness to obtain.

About CDAMS-GMC

The Cognitive Dementia & Memory Service (CDAMS) – Geriatric Medical Clinic is one of St Vincent's Health Independence Program (HIP) services.

CDAMS-GMC is a specialist diagnostic clinic for people aged 50 years and over who are concerned about memory loss or changes in thinking and cognition.

Our multidisciplinary team includes:

  • Neuropsychologists

  • Nurses

  • Occupational Therapists

  • Social Workers

  • Geriatricians

  • Aged Psychiatrists

  • Administrative Support Staff

Together, we provide comprehensive assessment, diagnosis and support for people experiencing cognitive change.
