The Department of Child, Family, & Population Health Nursing has an outstanding opportunity for a full-time Research Coordinator position.

Working in a research team under the leadership of the Principal Investigator and the Project Director, the Research Coordinator will play a leadership role in coordinating the research activities of a new national study that builds on a previous multisite, longitudinal study. The project will recruit 468 female participants (ages 35-40) from locations across the country to complete a follow-up visit, including a physical exam, blood draw, and interviews. This new data collection will be merged with the existing database to test a series of analytical models focusing on women’s cardiometabolic health and biological aging over the life course. 

The Research Coordinator will have responsibility for segments of the research protocol, including, but not limited to, the remote assessment of participant diet, activity, and sleep-related health behaviors, playing an integral role in implementing and maintaining protocols related to all data collection, data management, and quality assurance tasks for these segments. In addition, as a part of these protocols, the Research Coordinator will assist in the supervision of staff at 10+ data collection sites across the country. More broadly, the Research Coordinator will also have responsibility for activities related to participant recruitment, scheduling, and tracking, IT protocols related to data collection and data management, as well as miscellaneous support activities necessary to maintain the day-to-day activities and overall progress of the study.

Required Qualifications

Key Responsibilities:

  • Implement and maintain recruitment and tracking procedures.
  • Implement and maintain complex data collection procedures including interview questions, health assessments, and the oversight of biological specimen collection.
  • Implement and maintain quality assurance/improvement, data management, and administrative procedures.

Conduct sample recruitment and tracking (40%)

  • Implement and maintain subject recruitment protocol and tracking procedures.
  • Communicate with potential participants to explain the study, answer questions, and solve problems.
  • Administer screening questions to determine eligibility and recruit into study.
  • Schedule follow-up visits and ensure completion of activities.

Perform and troubleshoot data collection activities (35%):

  • Track participant progress through all stages of the study.
  • Schedule, coordinate, and ensure completion of follow-up study assessments.
  • Implement and maintain complex in-person data collection protocols as well as perform follow-up tasks.
  • Coordinate research team roles to complete research activities and participate in problem-solving related to the data collection protocols, scheduling, and miscellaneous issues.
  • Implement and maintain quality assurance/improvement tasks related to the data collection protocols.

Perform quality assurance/improvement, data management, and reporting (15%)

  • Perform data management tasks, including data review and scoring of data.
  • Perform related activities involving quality assurance/improvement and data management tasks.
  • Provide recruitment and data updates to research team at meetings.
  • Participate in the preparation of study newsletters and other study documents.

Overseeing staff training/performance (10%)

  • Coordinate staff training to maintain high quality performance of data collection tasks.
  • Communicate with staff ongoing to provide feedback on their performance of the data collection tasks. 
    • Remotely observe staff conducting the in-home follow-up visit to ensure the data collection protocols are being followed. Provide re-training to staff as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a social sciences area or other research-related field relevant to the study (e.g., nursing, pre-med, public health, health psychology, epidemiology).
  • Current driver’s license in Washington State and the ability to drive in Seattle.
  • 1-2 years of relevant work experience involving:
    • Excellent interpersonal skills to recruit participants to participate in a human subjects study.
    • Experience implementing human subjects data collection protocols involving health-focused assessments and biological specimens.
    • Excellent problem-solving and organization skills with exceptional attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple, competing priorities.
    • Excellent team-based skills necessary to work in a collaborative research environment.

Desired

  • Previous experience with blood collection, blood processing, and anthropometric measurements.
  • Previous experience recruiting participants for longitudinal human subjects studies. 
  • Previous experience using platforms such as REDCap, SharePoint, and data analysis tools (e.g., SPSS). 

Conditions of Employment

  • Work hours vary and will include weekends, holidays, and hours outside of regular business hours. 
  • Work will need to be conducted both in a research space on campus and outside the office as required.
  • Must be able to carry health and technical equipment required for the data collection (up to 30 lbs.).       

Compensation, Benefits and Position Details

Pay Range Minimum:

$65,364.00 annual

$70,992.00 annual
