Description
To engage newcomers to Germany with the Gospel, with the purpose of developing diverse, locally-rooted, and globally-connected congregations and members who are equipped to faithfully proclaim and live out the good news of Jesus.
This position will remain open until filled.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Local Discipleship and Church Planting Ministry
- Discover and develop ways to share the whole Gospel in a manner that is effective, meaningful, and culturally appropriate to the people and place.
- Develop trusting relationships with non-believers and help them discern and take the next steps in their faith journey.
- Disciple new believers individually and in small group settings to deepen their faith, expand their engagement with Scripture, and increase their ability to share their faith with others.
- Identify and nurture emerging leaders, equipping them for formal and informal leadership
- Work toward launching a new multicultural congregation in Berlin in which the common language is Basic German (i.e., a mono-multicultural church).
- Work in partnership with and within the structure of the Berliner Stadtmission (Berlin City Mission).
- Collaborate actively with local and international (Resonate) church planting communities of practice for mutual learning and growth.
- Build long-term relationships with national Christian leaders, churches, and organizations that share a vision for missional living and Gospel outreach to diverse groups, including the poor and marginalized.
- Support emerging leaders through prayer, mentoring, and pastoral relationships to foster their emotional and spiritual health in ministry.
- Use interactive training methods to equip local leaders and young adults to serve and share the Gospel in their communities.
- Participate in support-raising (e.g., prayer, care, and financial support) for Resonate Global Mission’s ministries by developing and maintaining a network of supporting churches and individuals in North America.
- Educate the CRCNA and others about the nature of the global church and its mission, encouraging them to develop a deeper passion and involvement in global missions.
- Provide the CRCNA with insight and resources for ministry among minority groups living in North America.
- Communicate the nature and impact of Resonate Global Mission’s ministries to the CRCNA and others through written communications and preaching/speaking engagements.
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE & EXPERTISE:
- Professing membership in a Christian Reformed congregation, or of a church in communion with the CRCNA, and agreement with the doctrine of the church signified by signing a covenant statement.
- Demonstrated commitment to Gospel witness and the integral word and deed mission of the church as expressed in Resonate’s foundational documents. Commitment to living out the Resonate postures of prayer, listening, serving, learning, mutual care and accountability, and peacemaking.
- Demonstrated affinity and passion for ministering among people of different sociocultural backgrounds, including the poor and marginalized.
- Commitment to develop fluency in German.
- Demonstrated effective cross-cultural and interreligious awareness and capabilities.
- Demonstrated ability to listen well and empower others for Gospel witness and ministry.
- Proven capacity to be creative and innovative in complex situations without a predetermined map.
- Self-motivated and proven quality administrative and organizational skills.
- Ability to travel to and from North America periodically.
- M.Div. or equivalent. Commitment to further theological study as appropriate.
- At least three years of practical ministry experience in contexts where crossing racial, ethnic, or other social barriers was necessary.
- Previous experience and participation in and/or leadership of new expressions of church preferred.
- Training in spiritual formation and a demonstrated commitment to interactive learning are preferred.
