Shared Health leads the planning and coordinates the integration of patient- centered clinical and preventive health services across Manitoba. The organization also delivers some province-wide health services and supports centralized administrative and business functions for Manitoba health organizations.
Position Overview
Under the general direction of the Director, Building Systems Engineering, Shared Health leads and supports the technical design standards and support standards for networked building automation system installations across Manitoba healthcare. Performance of this function also includes planning, directing and project management on networks, applications and hardware systems to budget constraints, user needs, expanding functionality and ensuring data and network cybersecurity (aligned with Digital Services). Position is also responsible to manage system information to support various department requirements including history, trends, reports and alarm management.
Environmental Systems and Electronics Supervisors, supervising the efficient operation of the sites Central Control & Monitoring Systems for HSC buildings. Applications supported are enterprise-wide direct digital control networks, networked and secondary fire alarm system, card access and photo identification system, security camera systems, energy plant control and monitoring systems and computerized pneumatic tube systems. For HSC, manages a central point database, the application and development of network policy & procedures, and debugging of application software and networking issues.
Experience
- Minimum of five years as a design engineer/technician with a major controls company, with technical training in enterprise wide controls management software (eg. Honeywell EBI, JCI Metasys, KeyScan, Tridium,) for HVAC, Security, Digital Video and Fire Systems central control systems required.
- Knowledge of Network Administration, database management and operations required.
- Must have experience with security panel programming such as PSCS IQ, PSCS IQ-ELV, Honeywell TEMA security panels.
Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)
- Complete high school education, Manitoba Standards, required.
- Instrumentation, Electronics, Computer, or Mechanical Technologist Diploma required.
- Application training in Environmental Control Systems; Environmental Computer Engineering; Advanced Central Control Automation Systems and Security Systems desirable.
SPECIAL TRAINING:
- Windows Server and Desktop software operating systems and support tools.
- Microsoft Office Suite.
- Various Building Automation Systems and platforms including BACNet, LON, Modbus, TCP/IP, H264 camera compressions, ONVIF, PSIA, OBIX.
- For HSC required to have or acquire skills with Honeywell EBI, Energy Manager, Quickbuilder, HMI Webuilder applications., PCSC Security panel IQ400 application software, LiNC-NXG application.
- System Imaging backup software and Anti-Virus applications.
- Dell OPENMANAGE application.
- Network HP, Cisco systems, Lantronix terminal server software, and others applicable to the systems operation.
- Translogic computerized Tube System Network and application software.
Certification/Licensure/Registration
- Valid Manitoba accreditation as a Certified Engineering Technologist, at minimum.
Qualifications and Skills
- Knowledge of secondary fire alarm panels, such as, Honeywell XLS fire alarm panels desired.
- Must be able to work with Direct Digital Control (DDC) panels including the networking and integration of them, such as Honeywell Excel Classic, XL500, and ComfortPoint.
- Knowledge of DDC programming such as, Honeywell CARE and ComfortPoint Studio programming preferred.
- Knowledge of computerized tube systems, such as Swisslog/Translogic preferred.
- Must have or be able to acquire within a reasonable period of time a thorough knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions and regulations applicable to the area of supervision.
- Must be able to work with, program, troubleshoot, and manage network switches and routers in a fiber and UTP wired network.
- Must be able to setup and manage the segregation of the CCMS network and VLANs.
- Must be able to work with computerized network applications which integrate controls and instrumentation via open communication protocols.
