We’re looking for an Advanced Biomedical Scientist to join our multidisciplinary team at HCA Laboratories, based at our London Bridge satellite laboratory. With more than 35 years of experience, HCA Laboratories supports acute care across our hospital network as well as IVF clinics, screening services and GP pathways. You’ll be working in a modern, well-equipped environment that benefits from continued investment in advanced automation and diagnostic technology. This allows our teams to deliver fast, accurate results while maintaining consistently high clinical standards across a 24-hour service.
As an Advanced Biomedical Scientist in our multidiscipline laboratory, you’ll play a key role in delivering a responsive and reliable Blood Sciences service. Working across haematology, biochemistry and transfusion, you’ll develop broad technical expertise while strengthening your knowledge in transfusion practice. Your day-to-day work will be hands-on and varied, moving across sample reception, analysis and result validation. Working alongside experienced colleagues in a collaborative and supportive team, you’ll gain exposure to multiple disciplines and build confidence in a laboratory that encourages continuous learning and professional development. With structured training and support, this is an opportunity to deepen your capability in a technologically advanced setting while contributing to patient care across the wider HCA network.
At HCA UK we care about what you care about. We care that you want to deliver the very best care. We care that you want a career you can be proud of. We care that you want working conditions that support your health and wellbeing. Let us care for you and your career, the same way you do for others.
What you’ll do:
- Work across all areas of Blood Sciences including haematology, biochemistry, transfusion and sample reception
- Process and analyse samples efficiently, supporting timely and accurate reporting
- Interpret and validate results in line with departmental protocols
- Support the day-to-day running of the laboratory, including stock control and equipment maintenance
- Contribute to quality management processes including audits, documentation and compliance
What you’ll bring:
- BSc or MSc in Biomedical Science
- HCPC registration
- Membership of the Institute of Biomedical Sciences
- Evidence of ongoing continuous professional development
- Experience in hospital transfusion, or a strong interest supported by relevant training
