Job Description

The Research Technician will report to the Director of Dr. Jane Huffman Wildlife lab. Research Technician will develop and conduct advanced scientific experimentation to evaluate sample types addressing research questions and a variety of standardized microbiological, biomedical and molecular analyses of various biological or environmental sample types. The Research Technician will be responsible for performing test procedures which will include DNA/RNA extractions and real-time PCR to collect and analyze results for the presence or absence of pathogens from specimens. The person may be required to complete a field collection of samples. To be successful in this position must be self-motivated, organized, independent, eager to learn a breadth of techniques, and have strong critical thinking and communication skills.
