
Graduate Assistant - Women's Soccer
Job Description
Grand View (Des Moines, IA): Grand View University Athletics Department is accepting applications for a Women’s Soccer - Graduate Assistant position (tuition waiver + stipend) starting Fall 2026 semester.
SUPERVISED BY: Head Coach & Assistant Coach
Selected Candidate will receive valuable hands-on coaching experience in all aspects of coaching, as well as the opportunity to learn and grow in the sport of Soccer.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assist Women’s Soccer staff in all aspects of training. Be an example to student athletes in professional conduct, sportsmanship, teamwork and academic excellence.
- Attend all games and training dates.
- Manage Soccer Equipment
- Support the academic success of reserve players to ensure eligibility, retention, and graduation.
- Assist in program logistics including transportation, travel, meals, transportation, inventory and lodging. Obrain and distribute parking passes for off-campus players on away games.
- Helping to set up the field on game days and tearing it down
- Keep Athletic Trainers and other coaching staff updated with observed injuries or fatigue.
- Assist in scheduling and recruiting
- Assist in marketing and branding efforts including social media
- Video recruiting analysis and recruiting duties, as assigned
- Fostering and building good mentor relations with players.
- Promote a positive and disciplined team culture that aligns with Grand View University values and university standards.
- Wear practice and game attire appropriate for coaching staff.
- Perform other related duties as assigned by the Head Coach and Assistant Coach
In Season (August - December)
- Assist Women’s Soccer Coaching Staff in preparation for pre-season team camp
- Prepare soccer equipment for variety and reserve teams’ practices
- Manage the Varsity Reserve program
- Designing and implementing specific practice sessions
- Evaluate and meet with each reserve team player
Off Season (January – May)
- Work through recruiting lists
- Assist with Winter and Summer Camps

- Candidates must hold a BA/BS degree. Degrees in Sports Management, Coaching, Kinesiology, Exercise Science, or related field are preferred
- Collegiate playing and/or coaching experience preferred
- CPR, First Aid and AED certification required
- Must complete NAIA Coaching Modules
- Ability to work well in a team environment
- Good character & communication skills, self-motivation, and leadership skills are essential.
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- The ideal candidate will have a strong desire to be a collegiate coach and will possess a strong work ethic, high character values, attention to detail, sense of urgency, and a willingness to learn and grow
- Skills and proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Teambuildr, Hudl is preferred
