Grand View University Art Adjunct
In addition to its regular, full-time faculty, we seek faculty and creative professionals with industry experience to teach courses on a part-time basis. These positions are not available every semester and are contingent upon course offerings.
To be qualified to teach at the university, candidates must possess a terminal degree in studio art or graphic design. In occasional cases, demonstrated professional experience in a specialized discipline and a sustained history of distinguished professional work, compelling creative achievements, or other significant experience in the relevant field may be considered as an alternative to the required degree.
Required
- Master's degree in Fine Arts or related field, or a significant record of accomplishment in the field
- Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to translate complex art concepts into clear, accessible assignments
Preferred
- Master of Fine Art degree in Studio Art, Printmaking, Sculpture, Graphic Design, Photography or related discipline
- Demonstrated success in teaching, lecturing, or mentoring students, either in an academic or professional setting, in higher education studio art or design programs
- A passion for teaching and a commitment to fostering a learning environment that encourages creativity, critical thinking, and professional growth among students
- Experience working in various studio art contexts
- Ability to engage students effectively convey concepts, critique, and guide students in developing their portfolios
- An understanding of current trends in the art field to provide insights into the evolving nature of the field
