Job Description

About Anew Climate: Anew Climate is a global decarbonization company with over two decades of experience in environmental markets. Anew helps leading organizations across technology, industrial, agriculture, and transportation sectors navigate the path to net zero. The company's work spans carbon credit development, renewable natural gas, low-carbon fuels, and natural climate solutions, all aimed at turning climate targets into measurable outcomes. Headquartered in Houston, TX, with offices across the U.S., Europe, and beyond, Anew operates at the intersection of environmental integrity and market innovation.

General Summary: This role is primarily frontend focused. You'll spend most of your time building user-facing features, crafting clean interfaces, and caring about how things look and feel. If you have an eye for design and enjoy making software that people actually enjoy using, this is a good fit.

There's some full stack work involved too, including SQL-backed data and cloud infrastructure, but the emphasis is on building things that are polished and visually well-crafted.

Primary Responsibilities and Competencies:

  • Applicants must be currently enrolled in a college or university degree program. You don't need to have mastered everything here, but you should have meaningful exposure to most of it and genuine curiosity about the rest.
  • Frontend development — Build and improve user-facing features using a modern frontend framework (React, Vue, Angular, or similar) with familiarity in TypeScript. An eye for design and polish matters here.
  • Backend and scripting — Work on supporting services and data pipelines using Python for scripting, data processing, or backend development.
  • Data and SQL — Write and optimize queries to support data retrieval, reporting, and analysis. Comfort with joins, filters, and aggregations is expected.
  • Cloud infrastructure — Work within a cloud environment (Azure, AWS, or GCP) to help deploy and maintain cloud-based services. Basic familiarity with at least one major platform is helpful.
  • Collaboration — Work with engineers and cross-functional teammates on technical requirements and tradeoffs. Participate in code reviews, standups, and documentation.
  • Problem solving — Read an error, form a hypothesis, and debug your way to an answer.
  • Design tools — Familiarity with Figma is a plus, especially for translating mockups into polished interfaces.
  • Domain curiosity — An interest in environmental or sustainability topics is a plus. A background isn't required, but genuine curiosity helps.

What You'll Gain

  • Real ownership over work that gets used
  • Honest feedback from experienced engineers
  • Exposure to how software intersects with environmental impact and sustainability
