Colt Electro Optics (Colt Optics), a division of Colt CZ Group North America, is looking for a Production Supervisor.
Located in Traverse City, Michigan, Colt Optics is a global supplier of electro-optics, magnified optics, night vision systems and other weapons, accessories and enablers.
Job Summary
The Production Supervisor is responsible for leading daily manufacturing operations for firearm optics assembly within a controlled clean manufacturing environment. This role oversees a team of approximately 5–10 Assembly and Engineering Technicians and is accountable for delivering high-quality products on schedule.
This is a hands-on, player-coach leadership role. The Production Supervisor is expected to actively support production activities, enforce cross-training across the team, and ensure that work is completed efficiently, safely, and to Colt Optics’ quality standards. This position plays a critical role in establishing a culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise a cross-functional team of Assembly and Engineering Technicians
- Actively participate in production activities as needed to support output and team success
- Own daily production scheduling and execution to ensure on-time delivery commitments
- Enforce cross-training and station rotation to build a flexible, resilient team
- Conduct performance reviews and provide ongoing coaching and feedback to team members
- Partner with the VP of Manufacturing to develop and implement training programs
- Participate in hiring decisions and support onboarding of new team members
- Manage employee performance, including discipline and performance improvement as needed
- Monitor production metrics and take action to address performance gaps
- Prepare and deliver daily and weekly KPI reports to leadership
- Ensure strict adherence to ESD (Electrostatic Discharge) control requirements
- Ensure compliance with all safety, quality, and operational procedures
- Prior experience in a manufacturing or production environment is highly valued, even if it’s just a year or two as a line worker, machine operator, or similar role.
- Leadership experience (like being a team leader or shift leader) is a big plus, even if it’s informal.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills—you’ll be directing teams and resolving conflicts.
- Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office, inventory software, etc.).
- Problem-solving ability and attention to detail.
- Time management and the ability to prioritize tasks.
- Understanding of safety protocols and quality standards.
