
Regional Community Builder
Job Description
The Regional Community Builder will build and maintain relationships with organizations and community members across UWGH’s four-county regional footprint. The incumbent will work to ensure appropriate training, outreach, and relationship-building across organizations and systems to achieve the highest level of impact within the Integrated Client Journey (ICJ) for community members. This role will engage partners and stakeholders in ongoing feedback loops, support ICJ-related change management, learning, and transition efforts, and ensure the community voice remains central throughout.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provides oversight and ensures consistency of the Integrated Client Journey (ICJ) to maintain fidelity to the model. Utilizes a coaching framework rooted in cultural humility with partner organizations, prospective partners, and community members. Supports outreach and training related to tools, processes, or system upgrades, ensuring partners and community organizations are equipped and confident in implementation. Identifies and builds relationships with key stakeholders and experts in the assigned ICJ issue area, identifying gaps and coordinating. Provides tailored technical assistance as needed.
- Engages with partners and community members to ensure their voices inform the evolution of the ICJ in meaningful and equitable ways. This includes ongoing outreach to gather feedback on ICJ changes and leading opportunities for input through Community Leadership Councils, Advisory Groups, or other mechanisms. This engagement will directly influence how ICJ is refined and implemented, keeping it community-centered and reflective of both need and opportunity. Facilitating community conversations, synthesizing what is heard, and translating those insights into the organization's work will be a central responsibility.
- Participates in cross-functional collaboration for planning and implementation across Community Impact and other departments. May lead special projects tied to ICJ adoption, training, or evaluation. Supports continuous improvement cycles informed by community feedback and performance data related to ICJ. Also plays a role in the Single Investment Process and supports other strategic initiatives such as Navigation and organizational learning.
- Continuously improve knowledge and expertise: Seeks out and utilizes research and other current information and resources to remain knowledgeable about key issues areas of the ICJ, the latest data on ALICE (Asset Limited, Income Constrained, Employed), awareness of community challenges and successes, and practices to remove barriers for community members to move towards their individual goals.
- Constituent Relationships: Works closely with UWGH’s Advancement and Marketing & Communications teams to develop outreach materials, success stories, and stakeholder updates related to ICJ. Serves as a compelling communicator of UWGH’s mission and ICJ advancements in community and partner settings, reinforcing brand value and strategic alignment.
- Other: Perform special assignments and other work, on an as-needed basis. A willingness to take on additional duties to ensure the success of the team is essential.
EDUCATION
Bachelor's degree in a relevant field from an accredited college or university is required.
EXPERIENCE

Three (3) or more years of experience performing the described principal duties and responsibilities or closely related work. Working knowledge of the greater Houston community, government, and nonprofit sector preferred.

Demonstrated knowledge of key issue areas and systems change. Experience supporting the implementation of evolving frameworks, models, or platforms (e.g., new program phases, service integration models, digital tools) is strongly preferred.

Strong facilitation and outreach experience, with the ability to support partners through learning curves associated with new systems or tools.

Proven experience providing technical assistance, training, or user support in formal or informal settings.

Demonstrated ability to think strategically; ability to synthesize feedback and translate it into actionable improvements to enhance engagement with partners and clients.

Strong verbal and written communication skills, particularly in simplifying complex information and delivering it to diverse audiences.

Ability to prepare, explain, and monitor performance, manage projects, and workload.
