Job Description
Big Bend Hospice (BBH) is your “Hometown Hospice” providing compassionate end-of-life care for over 40 years to the Big Bend region. Guided by our values of integrity, respect, and excellence, we are seeking an experienced Full-time Retail Associate to join our team at Oak Tree treasures. Oak Tree Treasures is a resale shop in Tallahassee, Florida, that benefits Big Bend Hospice by donating all proceeds to their care services.
The ideal candidate is a full-time Retail Associate who brings a genuine passion for thrift culture, sustainability, and community impact while supporting the daily operations of the store. This individual takes pride in giving donated items a second life by thoughtfully sorting, pricing, and stocking merchandise, ensuring each piece is presented in a way that highlights its value and story. They play an essential role in creating an inviting, ever-changing shopping experience for customers while contributing to the store’s mission of reuse, affordability, and community support.
Position Duties and Responsibilities:
The Full- time Retail Associate responsibilities will include, but are not limited to the following:
- Assist with general store operations under the guidance of management.
- Provide friendly, professional customer service to shoppers, donors, volunteers, and coworkers.
- Support customers with merchandise selection and handle sales transactions accurately.
- Operate the cash register, process payments, and issue receipts in accordance with store policies.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and well-stocked sales floor.
- Follow established policies for inventory acceptance, pricing, and returns.
- Help achieve weekly sales and production goals through efficient store support.
- Receive and process donations while ensuring compliance with tax regulations.
- Remain calm and professional in high-paced or stressful situations.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support overall store success.
Work Schedule:
- Shifts: 8:30 AM to 5:30 PM
- Tuesday - Saturday
Education & Experience:
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- One year's retail sales experience in a retail or second-hand store preferred.
Skills & Abilities:
- Knowledge of or a capacity to learn merchandising, customer relations, cash register operations
- Excellent communication skills.
- Ability to work autonomously and make independent judgments.
- Must be able to stand for the entire shift
- Transport donated goods to designated production area, sales floor, or warehouse
- Must be able to lift up to 40 lbs
Requirements:
- Valid driver’s license, auto insurance, and reliable transportation.
- Maintains a current CPR certification as required by organizational policy.
