Job Description
BASIC FUNCTION:
The Instrumentation and Controls Technician is responsible for identifying, locating and correcting operational problems arising in control systems and instruments. These problems occur in high purity specialty hydrocarbons processes as well as in utility systems such as boilers, water treatment and other related auxiliary equipment.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES: (functions considered essential as defined by ADA)
- Perform testing, calibration, repair, and replacement of electronic and pneumatic instrumentation in accordance with ISO requirements and site procedures
- Execute preventive, predictive, corrective, and planned maintenance activities on instrumentation and control equipment
- Support troubleshooting of instrumentation, controls, and loop issues in coordination with supervisors and engineers
- Maintain accurate and timely calibration records, as-found/as-left data, and work order documentation
- Identify and recommend spare parts, calibration equipment, and tools to support reliable execution
- Deliver onsite hands-on support for plant processes, operations, and facilities to ensure safe and efficient operations
Special assignments or tasks assigned to the employee by their supervisor, as determined from time to time in their sole and complete discretion.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:
- Demonstrated knowledge of the repair and maintenance of control and instrumentation equipment.
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, electrical one-lines, logic drawings, technical manuals and piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDaTMs).
- 5+ years of Instrumentation and Controls experience in a chemical plant or similar industry preferred.
EDUCATIONAL LEVEL:
A minimum of a High School Diploma or GED is required. Associate's Degree or Technical Certificate in Electronics, Instrumentation, Controls or a related field is preferred.

- Able to perform mathematical functions.
- Possess a strong commitment to Environmental Stewardship and Workplace Safety.
- Proven ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers and to interact and communicate well with individuals in all areas of the plant and outside vendors.
- Skilled in the use of hand tools, shop and power equipment used in the job.
- Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills in fast paced environment.
- Ability to respond to work under emergency or high stress situations.
- Ability to make Electrical and Instrumentation Controls related decisions with minimum direct supervision.
- Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail, accuracy and timeliness.
- Ability to demonstrate intermediate computer knowledge of Microsoft Products and SAP.
