SUMMARY

The Team Leader is responsible for addressing team inquiries, utilizing the ERP system, handling materials, and executing tasks assigned by leadership. This role requires proactive engagement with team members to foster a productive work environment and ensure optimal performance within the designated area through timely and hands-on leadership. The Extrusion Saw Team Lead also supports their team by packing orders for shipment alongside the supervisor.

 ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Facilitate communication between team members and management, including addressing questions and concerns.
  • Package orders for shipping for both of the saw departments
  • Adapt to changing priorities and ensure the team remains focused and productive throughout the shift.
  • First line of defense to prevent shut-downs and loss of production.
  • Train employees on the job, as needed, to improve knowledge and skills for various procedures.
  • Maintain a safe work environment by overseeing employees to make certain MIOSHA, safety rules and regulations are followed.
  • Transport material and goods from receiving, storage, or production areas to various processing, shipping and storage locations.
  • Ensure that all ISO quality forms for each procedure regarding production are completed correctly and in a timely manner.
  • Organize storage and processing areas to make most efficient use of space and handling requirements that meet 5S standards.
  • Maintain inventory control of work-in-progress and stored material.
  • Develop and recommend changes to improve the efficiency, quality, and performance of the department.
  • Effectively communicates complex or uncomfortable issues in a respectful and constructive manner.
  • Participate in weekly team meetings.
  • Must be able to handle high stress situations.
  • Must be able to interact in person with peers and leadership.

  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum of 3 to 6 months related supervisory experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Prior experience working in a manufacturing environment.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office, Internet software, inventory software, and VISUAL.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
  • Ability to obtain a fork truck license and meet our safety expectations.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Routinely required to stand and walk; use hands to handle and feel; reach with arms and hands; as well as climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl
  • Routinely lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move more than 50 pounds
  • Routinely performs repetitive movements such as bending, twisting, reaching, lifting and pulling
  • Specific vision requirements include depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Must be able to wear all necessary safety equipment.

 

ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS

  • Routinely work in a noisy environment.
  • Ability to work in a non-temperature-controlled environment.
  • Routinely exposed to moving and mechanical parts and potential exposure to electrical shock.
