POSITION SUMMARY: This Culinarian is responsible for preparing and providing meals for all functions of RMHCS as directed by the Food Services Manager.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Inspect food preparation and serving areas to ensure observance of safe, sanitary food handling practices
- Season and cook food according to recipes or personal judgment and experience
- Observe and test foods to determine if they have been cooked sufficiently, using methods such as tasting, smelling or piercing with utensils
- Weigh, measure and mix ingredients according to recipes or personal judgment
- Portion, arrange and garnish food and serve to patrons
- Regulate temperature of ovens, broilers, grills and roasters
- Substitute or assist other cooks during emergencies or rush periods
- Bake, roast, broil and steam meats, fish, vegetables and other foods
- Wash, peel, cut and seed fruits and vegetables to prepare for consumption
- Estimate expected food consumption
- Carve and trim meats such as beef, veal, ham, pork and lamb for hot or cold service or for sandwiches
- Bake breads, rolls, cakes and pastries
- Prepare relishes and hors d’oeuvres
- Clean food preparation areas
- Maintain sanitation, health and safety standards
- Other duties as requested/assigned
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Minimum of 1 year experience in food service industry
- Must possess or be able to obtain a valid Food Handler's License (or Food Handler's Card/Certificate) prior to start date; maintenance of current certification required throughout employment
- Must possess a valid, current Colorado Driver's License with a driving record in good standing and in compliance with Company policy; valid personal automobile insurance must be maintained throughout employment
- Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills and demonstrate the ability to interact clearly and effectively with both internal and external customers
- Basic computer skills to include sending and receiving emails
- Working knowledge of large-quantity meal preparation, menu planning, and routine reporting to the Head Chef required
- Position may require driving between day center locations to transport meals or other items
- Must be flexible to rotate across Explorer, Pikes Peak, and Quail Lake Day Center locations; all shifts originate and conclude at Pikes Peak
