Summary of Job |
The Production Lead is a critical "hands-on" leadership role responsible for ensuring the daily execution of production schedules while maintaining the highest standards of food safety and quality. This position serves as the primary backup to the Production Supervisor and assists in coordinating the activities of both full-time and agency employees.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities |
- Assist the Supervisor in organizing daily production runs, ensuring materials are staged, and machinery is ready for operation.
- Coordinate the daily tasks of plant and agency staff to maximize throughput and minimize downtime.
- Maintain constant communication with the Production Supervisor regarding line speeds, equipment downtime, or labor shortages.
- Immediately escalate any deviations in product quality, packaging integrity, or food safety concerns to the Supervisor and Quality Assurance (QA) department.
- Coordinate the timely transfer of raw materials to the lines and ensure finished goods are staged correctly for pickup.
- Assist in verifying that incoming materials from the warehouse match the production schedule requirements.
- Assist the Supervisor in identifying yield loss or inventory discrepancies, and that all production documents are ready for planned and unannounced quality audits.
- Conduct real-time reviews of production documents, identify documentation "misses" immediately
- Identify equipment malfunctions early, coordinate with the Maintenance department to schedule repairs or preventive tasks.
- Serve as the floor champion for Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs). Ensure all employees wear proper PPE and follow hygiene protocols.
- Report on the progress of all new recruits. Provide objective data to the Supervisor for use in probationary period evaluations.
- Monitor team performance and provide objective input to the Supervisor and HR regarding individual progress, and disciplinary needs.
- Monitor the progress of "on-the-floor" training, and report to HR and production supervisor any
- Assume departmental production responsibility in the absence of the Production Supervisor.
- Complete other duties as assigned.
Food Safety Responsibilities:
- Follow all relevant food safety rules including SQF, GMPs, and Food Defense.
- Report any observed food safety violations to your supervisor immediately.

Education and Qualifications |
- High School Diploma or Equivalent required.
- 5 years of Related Experience in a Manufacturing environment.
- Excellent organizational, Time management skills and ability to work independently.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) required.
- Good communication skills; attentiveness to detail, including high-level of safety awareness.
- Able to work flexible schedules including weekends.
