This is a hybrid role with a mix of in-office and remote work. Work arrangements will be discussed with the hiring managers per departmental guidelines.
Your Role
Reporting to the Director of Engineering Services, Innovation and Delivery (T&I), you will oversee the day-to-day management of the technical drawing and installation teams based in Montreal and Toronto.
Concretely, you will be the anchor point of your team. Your role? Inspire and develop your experts, while ensuring that our processes remain fluid and efficient to deliver our projects masterfully.
As Senior Manager, you will:
- Vision & Strategy: Ensure the operational and strategic performance of the teams, contribute to discussions with the engineering management team, and translate organizational objectives into concrete actions on the ground.
- Talent Management and Development: Recruit, train, supervise, and promote the professional growth of team members (installers, CAD operators, project leads/supervisors) on a daily basis.
- Team Support: Support the teams in their technical functions to quickly meet operational requirements and capital plan deliverables.
- Workflow Optimization: Ensure the fluidity and compliance of processes to guarantee efficient management and allocation of all requests intended for CAD operators and installers.
- Corporate Alignment: Harmonize engineering operational processes between Montreal, Toronto, and the rest of the corporation.
- Technical Rigor: Enforce the standards and best practices for drawing, installation, and cabling infrastructure throughout CBC/Radio-Canada.
- Technology Watch: Ensure active monitoring and judiciously integrate high-performance and scalable work tools adapted to our needs, including the exploration and adoption of opportunities related to artificial intelligence (AI) when relevant.
- Financial and Contractual Management: Manage the budgets related to the team's activities and manage business relations/contracts with subcontractors and external installers.
- Inventory Management: Oversee the management and optimization of technical inventories and the supply chain.
- Internal Collaboration: Build solid bidirectional relationships within Engineering and with representatives from other departments.
- Related Projects and Initiatives: Participate in other activities or special mandates related to Engineering Services, depending on operational needs.
Desired Profile:
- 5 years of experience in a management and/or leadership role is desired.
- At least 10 years of experience related to technical drawing, technical installation, and/or engineering projects.
- Strong understanding of cabling systems and infrastructures and their documentation.
- Great strategic thinking, mobilizing leadership, and strong collaboration skills.
- Motivated by creating solid and reliable processes, while demonstrating agility to adapt and evolve solutions over time.
- Proficiency in cost estimation and budget forecasting processes.
- Ability to negotiate various contracts with suppliers (knowledge of contract law is an asset).
- Software experience including WireCAD, PyWire, Stack, Draftsight, SketchUp, Netbox, SAP, Oracle, Jira, Tempo (a major asset).
- Ability to adapt quickly to new tools and technologies, while staying abreast of industry best practices.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal relationship management skills.
- Bilingualism (French-English) is required.

- The position requires occasional travel, a few times a year (periods normally ranging from one to five days), depending on the mandates.
- The position may involve a flexible work schedule and occasional field work.
