Job Description
The Associate Producer plays a critical role in the daily execution of live newscasts across broadcast, streaming, and digital platforms. Collaborating closely with Executive Producers, Line Producers, Anchors and Assignment Editors, the Associate Producer helps shape editorial content, and assists producers to conceptualize and produce rundowns, contributes to the production of live shows, prepares, and calls out supers for live broadcasts.
Candidates must have a strong editorial background, excellent writing skills and have ample knowledge of social media. Candidates should be able to work in a fast paced, deadline-driven environment with the willingness to work nights, weekends, early morning shift and have flexible hours for last-minute scheduling changes.
The position requires the ability to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays, particularly during breaking news coverage or special assignments.
This position demands the ability to work effectively under tight deadlines within a fast-paced and evolving newsroom environment.
Responsibilities:
- Work live newscasts and special events.
- Assist producers in building and formatting daily newscasts.
- Write lower-third graphics and call supers in a live broadcast.
- Assist in all aspects of production, from headlines to segments, and production of news briefs.
- Contribute to the editorial line of the day.
- Able to request news graphics including editorial and creative process.
- Newsgathering savvy. Must have social media knowledge and be able to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Research stories, fact-check information, and verify sources.
- Work in collaboration with Assignment Editors, Reporters, production crews, and news digital team.
- Work closely with Producers and Executive Producers on story planning and coordination.
- Ensure all content meets journalistic standards, legal requirements, and editorial guidelines.
Basic Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in journalism, Communications, or equivalent work experience
- Minimum 2 years of experience working as a Associate Producer in TV production and/or cable TV.
- Must be fully fluent in English and Spanish (both written and verbal)
- Prior work experience directing and guiding talent in video productions.

- Fully bilingual, Spanish, and English proficient.
- Proficient in I-News and any other system for live news production
- Proficient in VIZ
- Accustomed to working in a team and collaborating with all levels within the organization.
- Proven excellent people skills combined with a strong sense of how to visually tell a compelling story desired.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Willingness to work weekends, early morning shift and have flexible hours for last-minute scheduling changes.
