Job Description
Mako Industries is hiring a Hydrotester that will responsible for performing hydrostatic pressure testing on piping systems, vessels, and equipment to ensure integrity, safety, and compliance with project specifications and applicable codes. This role requires attention to detail, adherence to safety procedures, and the ability to work in physically demanding environments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform hydrostatic pressure testing of piping systems, tanks, and components in accordance with project specifications and procedures
- Set up and break down test equipment including pumps, hoses, gauges, and manifolds
- Verify test boundaries, ensure proper isolation, and confirm all connections are secure prior to testing
- Monitor pressure levels during testing and inspect for leaks, pressure drops, or system deficiencies
- Document test results accurately, including pressure readings, durations, and any discrepancies
- Coordinate with supervisors, QC personnel, and other trades to ensure testing is completed efficiently
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, ensuring all equipment is properly handled and stored
- Follow all safety protocols, including lockout/tagout and confined space requirements when applicable
- Assist with drying, flushing, or dewatering systems after testing as required
Qualifications:
- Previous experience in hydrotesting, pipefitting, or mechanical work preferred
- Basic understanding of piping systems, pressure ratings, and test procedures
- Ability to read and interpret drawings, isometrics, and test packages
- Familiarity with test equipment such as pressure pumps, gauges, and chart recorders
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, and climb stairs or ladders for extended periods (up to 12 hours)
- Ability to lift and carry materials and equipment (up to 50 lbs or more)
- Comfortable working in industrial environments, including outdoor conditions and elevated areas
Work Environment:
- Industrial settings such as shipyards, fabrication shops, or construction sites
- Exposure to noise, weather, and varying site conditions
- Must be able to work extended hours, weekends, or shifts as required by the project
