JOB SUMMARY:
The Transportation Assistant I (TA) supports various functions in transportation operations and maintains program efficiency of ACC Rides Transportation Services. The TA transports older adults who need assistance to and from senior nutrition sites, ACC sites, medical or health related appointments and related destinations. This is a non-exempt (hourly) position. This position reports to the Program Coordinator and/or Transportation Specialist.
JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Transports older adults and caregivers including those with dementia or Alzheimer’s and/or physical limitations.
- Helps maintain cleanliness of vehicles, checks safety equipment for proper functioning; schedules routine maintenance as required.
- Provides support to ACC staff as needed.
- Collects and records daily donations.
- Files daily schedule, receipts and invoices.
- High School graduate or equivalent required.
- Minimum two years’ experience working with volunteers preferred.
- Effective English communication skills, both verbal and written; bilingual a plus!
- Ability to operate multi-line telephone, cell phone, GPS, scheduling software, fax machine, photocopier, digital camera, etc.
- Office support experience; proficient skills in data entry, spreadsheets, email, internet preferred.
- Assists with development, training, and supervision of ACC volunteers.
- Actively participates in meetings to ensure effective communication and teamwork.
- Experience in non-profit environment with volunteers preferred.
- Must be 21; possess a valid California driver’s license, clean driving record the past five years.
Physical Demands and Working Conditions
Work may involve bending from the waist, stopping, twisting, and lifting of objects not to exceed 50 pounds. Be able to assists wheelchair bound clients in pushing and/or pulling weighing in excess of 250 pounds.
