SEAL (Summer Earn and Learn) Program Support Intern
Salary: $17.00/Hour
Locations: Regional – Supporting Bay City, Columbus, Sealy, Katy, Missouri City, Rosenberg, Waller, Wharton, and Southwest Houston.
Employment Type: Temporary
Duration: Approximately May through August (3 Months)
This temporary role supports the SEAL youth workforce initiatives, including seasonal work experience programs, internships, and summer employment activities. Staff in this position play a vital role in ensuring youth participants have safe, meaningful, and skill‑building work-based learning opportunities.
Purpose
To support the development, coordination, and oversight of high‑quality worksite placements for paid work experience, internships, and other work-based learning opportunities. This includes ensuring compliance, fostering employer partnerships, and contributing to the success of summer youth initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
Recruit, screen, and approve worksites in accordance with WIOA and HGCY requirements
Conduct worksite inspections to ensure safe, supportive, and youth‑friendly environments
Assist employers with onboarding processes, supervision expectations, and worksite agreements
Monitor youth placements to ensure meaningful skill development, workplace readiness, and occupational exposure
Track, document, and report youth skills attainment and progress
Coordinate and process youth timekeeping, payroll submissions, and attendance documentation
Serve as a point of contact for employers and youth, providing timely support and issue resolution
Perform additional duties as assigned to support program operations and outcomes
Minimum Requirements
Associate’s degree OR two (2) years of experience in:
Employer relations
Human resources
Workforce development
Youth or young adult programming
Customer service or related fields
Note: College coursework may be substituted for experience on a year‑for‑year basis
Knowledge of workplace safety, supervision standards, and professional conduct expectations
Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends based on program needs
Must be able to travel within the West Region, including Bay City, Columbus, Sealy, Katy, Missouri City, Rosenberg, Waller, Wharton, and Southwest Houston
Strong communication, documentation, and organizational skills
Must pass a background check
Must obtain youth‑serving clearance (authorization to work with youth)
Preferred Skills
Experience collaborating with employers, community partners, or training providers
Understanding of occupational skills frameworks, career pathways, and work-based learning models
Strong organizational, negotiation, and relationship‑building abilities
Demonstrated cultural sensitivity and ability to work effectively with diverse populations
Ability to motivate youth, serve as a positive role model, and support goal achievement
Experience in workforce development or youth employment programs
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and general computer literacy
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and perform well in a fast‑paced environment
Proven ability to meet or exceed performance goals and program expectations
