The Construction Risk Analyst I supports the Office of the CCO in analyzing and monitoring credit risk associated with construction and development lending. Responsibilities include reviewing construction draw requests, monitoring project completion timelines, assessing collateral and budget-to-complete status, preparing construction risk reports, and supporting due diligence on new construction credit exposures.The role assists senior analysts and management in identifying early warning indicators and ensuring construction credits are administered in compliance with internal policy and regulatory requirements.
Responsibilities:
Conduct comprehensive Construction Draw Analysis, collection of Construction/Project related documents. Routine monitoring of commercial credits by way of covenant tracking, servicing borrower inquires, and facilitating the gathering of essential portfolio data is essential
Assist in the development and execution of monitoring policies and procedures to manage credit risk effectively and efficiently
Understand the credit culture and risk tolerance as outlined by senior management and the Board, and proactively identify and mitigate potential threats against the safety and soundness of the loan portfolio
Draft decision recommendations based on project progress, budget adherence, and lien releases. Monitor construction progress reports, identifying potential delays or risks. Coordinate with borrowers, contractors, and internal stakeholders to resolve draw-related issues
Ensure adherence to bank policies, regulatory requirements, and funding conditions. Maintain accurate records and documentation of all draw requests and approvals
Review and understand basic aspects of construction and construction documents to apply towards your review an analysis of a construction draw package
Qualification:
Bachelor’s degree in finance required, Experience in Real Estate, Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Business Administration, or related field preferred
0-2 years of experience in construction lending, construction risk analysis, or commercial real estate credit
Internship or entry-level experience in banking, real estate finance, or construction management preferred
Exposure to construction draw management, inspection reports, or real estate appraisals a plus
Basic real estate financial analysis and project valuation knowledge
Microsoft Office proficiency (Excel required)
Strong attention to detail and analytical thinking
Effective written communication for report preparation
Ability to collaborate across underwriting, credit, and operations teams
Foundational understanding of construction lending and draw request processes is a plus
