Job Description

Job Title: Practice Manager
Location: Long Beach, CA
Reports To: Chief Executive Officer/ Medical Director

Join a Legacy of Excellence in Southern California:
Lung & Allergy Health Associates (LAHA) is a premier multi-disciplinary center with a 40-year history of specializing in pulmonology, allergy, and immunology. Through our clinical affiliation with Miller Children’s & Women’s Hospital at Long Beach Memorial, we provide world-class care across four outpatient specialty centers and a robust hospital-based program.

We are seeking a strategic, clinical-first leader to serve as our Practice Manager. This is a high-impact role designed for an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) who possesses the operational discipline to lead daily functions across multiple sites while maintaining deep credibility with both physicians and nursing staff. As the Practice Manager, you will oversee the operations of our pediatric pulmonary and immunology division, ensuring the seamless integration of clinical excellence and administrative efficiency.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Clinical Operations

  • Oversee daily clinical and office operations across LAHA and affiliated sites, including workflow design, patient throughput, supply management, and inventory control to support optimal practice performance. Monitor clinic flow and jump in as necessary (pod nursing).
  • Support patient lifecycle from intake to discharge, including reaction event management, diagnostics oversight (e.g., PFTs, eNO, skin testing, immunotherapy and medication administration), and prioritizing patient safety and experience.
  • Serve as the operational partner to physicians and executive management, translating clinical priorities into workable processes and removing barriers to high-quality care.
  • During emergencies, provide direct patient care as needed.

Leadership & Staff Management

  • Lead clinical and administrative teams across multi outpatient sites, with primary focus on the private practice (LAHA) and supporting oversight at affiliated hospital-based operations.
  • Manage clinical, back office, and front office staff: recruit, onboard, train, and track progress using individualized training plans and skill validations to meet performance expectations.
  • Coordinate staff scheduling, cross-site coverage, people management, and employee relations, fostering collaboration and a positive team culture.
  • Conduct performance evaluations and support professional development across the team.

Compliance, Safety & Credentialing

  • Ensure safety and compliance standards (HIPAA, OSHA, infection control, CDPH) are upheld through regular audits, mock codes for reaction and asthma management, and ongoing team education.
  • Maintain accreditation readiness for the practice's specialty designations, including Joint Commission Pediatric Asthma Center of Excellence and IDF immune deficiency program recognition.
  • Manage provider credentialing and re-credentialing for hospital privileges at Miller Children's / Long Beach Memorial, payer contracts, and regulatory requirements.

Financial & Operational Performance

Monitor billing and revenue cycle metrics, ensuring accurate charge capture, coding, and claims processing; partner with the billing team to identify and resolve issues.

Handle routine administrative duties including inventory tracking, budget adherence, and escalation of operational issues.

Track key metrics (e.g., throughput efficiency, training completion, compliance audit results, patient safety indicators) and contribute to quality improvement initiatives.

Business Development & Referral Relations

  • Support the development of new clinical programs is a critical function of this role. LAHA operates within a nonprofit structure, and program development is central to advancing the mission and expanding patient access.
  • Maintain working relationships with referring providers, hospital administration, and community partners to support patient access and referral flow.
  • Support business development and marketing efforts by representing the practice in referral meetings, community outreach, and provider engagement activities; partner with the marketing team on initiatives that require clinical or operational input.
  • Surface opportunities for referral growth and practice expansion based on operational and clinical insight.
  • Other duties as assigned to support practice operations and growth.

Qualifications:

Required:
  • Associate's Degree in Nursing (ADN/ASN); BSN strongly preferred.
  • Active California Registered Nurse (RN) license (or eligibility to obtain upon hire).
  • Current BLS certification; PALS required or obtained within 90 days of hire (training provided if needed).
  • Minimum 5 years of clinical nursing experience, with at least 2 years in a clinical management or supervisory role.
  • Extensive knowledge of clinical workflows, patient safety, and healthcare compliance standards (HIPAA, OSHA, infection control).
  • Working knowledge of medical billing and revenue cycle sufficient to partner effectively with billing and finance teams.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and people skills.
  • Comfort with electronic health records and multiple platforms.
  • Ability to travel between LAHA and affiliated sites as needed.

Preferred:

Clinical experience in pediatric pulmonology, allergy, or immunology.

Prior experience managing operations across multiple outpatient sites or a hospital-affiliated program.

Experience with provider credentialing and hospital privileging processes.

Familiarity with Joint Commission disease-specific certification or similar specialty accreditations.
