About the Role
The Fleet Technician is responsible for executing the inspection, maintenance, repair, and operational readiness of THS fleet vehicles and select trailered assets. This role ensures all assigned equipment is safe, compliant, and deployable at all times. The position operates within a controlled maintenance system under the direction of the Fleet Manager and supports both steady-state and contingency operations.
This is a hands-on role with direct accountability for uptime, condition, and documentation integrity of fleet assets.

Key Responsibilities
Fleet Maintenance & Repair
- Perform scheduled preventative maintenance (PM) on fleet vehicles (e.g., pickups, medium-duty trucks, specialty vehicles).
- Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues and execute repairs within capability.
- Escalate complex repairs to external vendors with proper documentation and oversight.
- Maintain service intervals in accordance with OEM specifications and THS standards.
Inspection & Readiness
- Conduct pre-issue, post-return, and periodic inspections of fleet vehicles and assigned equipment.
- Validate operational readiness for deployment, including safety systems, fluid levels, tires, and required onboard equipment.
- Identify deficiencies and initiate corrective actions immediately.
Asset Accountability Support
- Assist in tracking vehicle condition, utilization, and maintenance history.
- Ensure all service, repair, and inspection activities are accurately recorded in fleet management systems.
- Maintain proper tagging, labeling, and documentation for all assigned assets.
Deployment & Recovery Support
- Support mobilization and demobilization of fleet assets for field operations.
- Prepare vehicles for transport, including configuration checks and load-out requirements.
- Conduct post-deployment inspections and reset vehicles to ready status.
Safety & Compliance
- Enforce safety standards in all maintenance and operational activities.
- Ensure compliance with DOT requirements, company policies, and applicable regulatory standards.
- Immediately report safety hazards, incidents, or near-misses.
Facility & Yard Support
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of maintenance areas, tools, and yard spaces.
- Support inventory control of parts, consumables, and maintenance supplies.
- Assist with minor facility maintenance as directed.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required; technical certification preferred.
- 2+ years of experience in fleet maintenance, diesel mechanics, or automotive repair.
- Working knowledge of preventative maintenance systems and inspection protocols.
- Basic understanding of DOT compliance requirements (preferred).
- Ability to operate shop equipment, diagnostic tools, and hand tools safely.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with diesel engines, trailers, and light/heavy-duty trucks.
- Familiarity with telematics, fleet management systems, and maintenance operations software (SafetyCulture).
- CDL (Commercial Driver’s License) or ability to obtain.
- Experience supporting field or contingency operations.

- Mechanical Aptitude: Ability to diagnose and resolve equipment issues efficiently.
- Computer Aptitude: Possesses basic computer skills with the ability to operate Microsoft Office programs (Outlook, Word, Excel) for documentation, communication, and record‑keeping purposes.
- Attention to Detail: Accurate inspections and documentation.
- Reliability: Consistent execution of maintenance schedules and readiness standards.
- Safety Discipline: Strict adherence to safety protocols.
- Operational Awareness: Understanding how fleet readiness impacts mission execution.
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
- Work performed in shop, yard, and field environments, including outdoor conditions.
- Frequent lifting (up to 50 lbs), bending, kneeling, and standing.
- May require extended hours during deployments or surge operations.
- Travel may be required in support of field operations.
Performance Expectations
- Maintain ≥95% fleet readiness rate (as defined by THS standards).
- Zero preventable safety incidents attributable to maintenance failure.
- 100% compliance with inspection and documentation requirements.
- Timely completion of scheduled preventative maintenance.
