Target Range:
$120,000.00 /Yr. - $145,000.00 /Yr.Actual starting pay will vary based on factors including, but not limited to, geographic location, experience, skills, specialty, and education.

Axos is seeking an experienced Senior Systems Engineer to join our team. You will be responsible for managing and automating enterprise Linux/Unix platforms across VMware-based on-prem and hybrid environments. Ensures high availability, security compliance, and operational stability of mission-critical banking applications. You will also act as an L2/L3 System Engineer resource, working across IT Infrastructure teams in a regulated banking environment.

Responsibilities:
Linux Administration
- Manage Linux/Unix systems (build, patching, performance tuning)
- Ensure system stability, security hardening, and uptime
- Support application teams with OS and middleware dependencies
- Participate in Major Incident (P1/P2) management and RCA
- Drive automation to reduce manual recovery efforts like Bash / Python.
Puppet Automation
- Develop and maintain Puppet modules/manifests
- Automate server provisioning, patching, and application deployment
- Enforce configuration standardization and drift remediation
VMware Infrastructure
- Administer vSphere, ESXi, and vCenter
- Provision and manage Unix/Linux VMs and templates
- Support capacity planning, performance tuning, and DR (Zerto)
Security & Compliance
- Ensure adherence to SOX, FFIEC, and internal security policies
- Perform patching, vulnerability remediation, and access control
- Maintain audit-ready documentation and compliance posture
Backup & DR
- Support enterprise backup and DR solutions
- Participate in DR drills and failover testing
- Ensure high availability and no single point of failure
Change & Operations
- Execute changes via ServiceNow (CAB, risk, rollback)
- Maintain runbooks, SOPs, and documentation.
Requirements:
- 5+ years of experience in Linux Administration
- Strong expertise in Puppet (configuration management)
- Hands-on experience with VMware (vSphere, ESXi, vCenter)
- Experience in production support / incident management
- Scripting: Bash / Python
- Knowledge of networking (TCP/IP, DNS) and storage systems
- Experience with ITSM (incident/change management)
Preferred:
- RHCE / RHCSA
- VMware VCP
- Puppet Certified Professional
- ITIL
