Job Description

The Slot Supervisor is responsible for ensuring that the Slot department runs smoothly during his/her assigned shift. This includes, but is not limited to, guest service, staffing and personnel issues and interdepartmental transactions.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the day-to-day operations on the Slot floor, ensuring that customer and employee concerns and problems are handled in a timely and effective manner.
  • Promote and develop positive customer relations. Ensure that all Key Persons are courteous, friendly, and efficient when interacting with guests and co-workers from all departments.
  • Directly supervise Slot Key Persons; this includes training, coaching, evaluations, corrective action, and other employee relations issues as indicated.
  • Issue written and oral instructions to staff and monitor the results to ensure that the goals of the enterprise are met.
  • Ensure that all equipment is clean and in proper working order.
  • Monitor, investigate correct and/or report machine malfunctions of all kinds. May make minor repairs to slot machines but will notify a Slot Technician for the repair and/or maintenance of slot machines.
  • Ensure the security of company assets and accountability for company funds.
  • Recommends changes in department personnel, including hiring, promotion, transfer, and termination of employment.
  • Authorize transactions within established guidelines.
  • Monitor patron activity for potential suspicious activity. Report potential suspicious activity to the Compliance Manager.
  • Adhere to all established safety practices and standards. Ensure that all direct reports follow established safety practices and standards.
  • Will perform the duties of a Slot Key Person as needed.
  • Ensure that the Slot floor and related back-of-house areas are clean and orderly at all times.
  • Ensure compliance with IGRA, Tribal-State Compact, Tribal Gaming Ordinance, Tribal Gaming Regulations, FinCEN requirements and Warm Springs Gaming Enterprise Internal Controls.
  • Will perform other duties as assigned.

Education, Qualifications and Experience:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • One (1) year of experience in a Casino Slot Department preferred.
  • Knowledge of games, including rules and procedures, game protection, game mix, and theoretical expectations.
  • Knowledge of Federal, State and Tribal law pertaining to Tribal Gaming.
  • Basic computer skills.

Competencies:

  • Excellent communications skills are essential. This includes verbal, written and listening skills. Must be able to communicate effectively with all levels of personnel, management and guests while providing excellent service to internal and external customers. Must maintain strict confidentiality.
  • Must establish and maintain excellent working relationships with employees, department heads, members of the public, regulators, outside auditors and/or vendors.
  • Must be able to analyze and solve complex problems that may have non-standard solutions.
  • Skill in solving practical problems and deal effectively with situations where only limited standardization exists.

Physical Demands:

  • Some lifting and carrying is required. Lifting items weighing as much as 60 pounds may be required, but this should occur rarely, i.e., less than 15% of the time.
  • This position requires reaching, manipulating and keyboard operation (typing).
  • This position requires sitting, stooping, standing, bending, and walking.
  • This position requires intense and exacting mental and visual attention.

Working Conditions:

  • This job requires working in areas where the noise level is high, where there is secondhand tobacco smoke while performing intense, complex, and very involved tasks with major financial responsibility.
  • Must observe and comply with all safety regulations and procedures, including the use of any and all safety equipment provided. Must practice safety at all times.

Special Requirements:

  • Must maintain a valid Oregon driver’s license.
  • Must be 21 years of age or older.
  • Must submit to and pass a drug/alcohol screening test.
  • Must submit to and pass an Oregon State background investigation.
  • Proven gaming license eligibility preferred.
