Schedule:
- 1st Shift: 6:00 AM – 6:00 PM
- 12-hour rotating shift (2-2-3 schedule)
- Work pattern: 2 days on, 2 days off, 3 days on (alternating weekly)
- Includes weekend rotation
The Lead Shipping Coordinator is responsible for managing all outbound logistics associated with ILA shelter and generator deployments from the manufacturing facility to field construction sites.
This role coordinates shelter preparation for shipment, transportation arrangements, delivery scheduling, site access planning, and alignment with field construction readiness. The position ensures that shelters, generators, and associated materials are delivered safely, on time, and in full compliance with site requirements.
This role serves as the central logistics point of coordination between Manufacturing, Construction Operations, Transportation Providers, and Field Teams to maintain delivery schedules aligned with project milestones and customer commitments.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Coordinate and oversee preparation of ILA shelters and generators for shipment, ensuring readiness, compliance, and accuracy, including:
- Verification of QA release approvals prior to shipment
- Adherence to packaging, securing, and load protection standards
- Load configuration validation and weight compliance
- Preparation and accuracy of shipping documentation and bills of lading
Manage transportation logistics for shelters, generators, and related materials, including:
- Carrier selection, scheduling, and performance oversight
- Coordination of oversized loads, permitting, and route planning
- Arrangement of escorts and compliance with regulatory requirements
Develop, maintain, and execute master delivery schedules aligned with construction timelines, site readiness, and customer commitments
Partner cross-functionally with Project Managers and Field Construction Managers to validate delivery readiness, including:
- Pad and site readiness
- Utility availability
- Site access constraints and local restrictions
- Crane scheduling and traffic control requirements
- Municipality-specific delivery windows and compliance requirements
Coordinate staging and delivery of generators and fuel systems to ensure alignment with pad completion and electrical readiness
Monitor shipments end-to-end, providing proactive status updates and ensuring visibility to key stakeholders
Identify and resolve transportation delays, carrier performance issues, and site delivery conflicts in real time
Lead rescheduling and redelivery efforts as needed, minimizing operational disruption and cost impact
Track and analyze freight costs, supporting cost control and logistics efficiency initiatives
Maintain accurate shipping records, compliance documentation, and proof of delivery
Support the development and implementation of standardized logistics processes and scalable shipping workflows
Participate in post-delivery reviews to identify root causes, drive continuous improvement, and prevent recurring issues
Managerial Responsibility
- This role has no direct reports but provides functional leadership to shipping personnel, including coordinating daily activities, reinforcing standards, and ensuring alignment with logistics priorities and delivery schedules.
Travel/Shift Requirements
Less than 20% travel required.
Periodic site visits may be required to validate delivery conditions or support high-risk deployments.
Physical Demands
Regular presence in warehouse and staging areas.
Ability to inspect load configurations and securement.
Ability to work in outdoor environments when coordinating loading operations.
Skills and Abilities Required
Strong logistics coordination and scheduling capability.
Working knowledge of heavy equipment transport, oversized loads, and generator shipment requirements.
Understanding of construction site access constraints and field deployment sequencing.
Ability to manage multiple active deliveries across multiple states.
Strong organizational discipline and schedule management skills.
Proactive problem-solving and escalation capability.
Ability to balance schedule urgency with cost control.
Clear communication skills across manufacturing, field, and transportation partners.
Professional judgment to delay shipment when site readiness is not confirmed.
Education and Experience Required
High school diploma or equivalent required; associate or bachelor’s degree preferred.
5+ years of experience in logistics, shipping coordination, construction deployment support, or heavy equipment transport.
Experience coordinating oversized or specialty freight.
Experience supporting construction or telecom infrastructure projects preferred.
Education and Experience Preferred
Experience in ILA, telecom shelter, generator, or modular building deployments.
Familiarity with DOT regulations and transport permitting processes.
Experience working in multi-state deployment programs.
Exposure to ERP or logistics tracking systems.
