Position Description


Job Title: Director of Institutional Advancement

Department: Administration

Job Status/FLSA: Full-Time/Exempt

Reports to: Principal

 

Position Overview: We are seeking a dynamic and strategic leader to serve as the Director of Institutional Advancement. In this vital role, you will spearhead efforts to cultivate meaningful relationships, secure essential funding, and elevate the organization's visibility within the community especially as we head into our 100th year celebration. Your innovative approach to fundraising, combined with expertise in relationship management and strategic planning, will drive sustainable growth and strengthen our mission. This position offers an exciting opportunity to lead comprehensive development initiatives, harness digital marketing tools, and foster collaborations that make a lasting impact.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborates with school Principal and school staff in the implementation of a comprehensive Advancement plan. Establishes short and long range goals and objectives based on the school's plans. Collaborates with regional/ diocesan planning and development efforts, as appropriate.

 

  • Direct and manage the advancement team which handles all fundraising, marketing and advancement programs.

 

  • Prospect, cultivate, solicit and maintain relationships with major donors.

 

  • Plan, develop and direct the annual appeal.

 

  • Manage the donor database (Donor Perfect) and all donor acknowledgements.

 

  • Oversee the planning and execution of fundraising events, ensuring they are engaging, well-organized and impactful.

 

  • Monitor the fundraising and sponsorship activities of all student and parent organizations connected with the school in an effort to coordinate and maximize dollars raised.

 

  • Identify and solicit businesses for Pennsylvania's Educational Improvement Tax Credit Program. Cultivate donors for and manage interface with the Eastern Pennsylvania Scholarship Foundation.

 

  • Assist Admissions Director in the elementary school bonding programs, including meeting annually with elementary feeder school principals to review program purpose and content.

 

  • Aid in promotion and coordination in elementary parents' evening and daytime meetings and open houses.

 

  • Coordinate the development of all school marketing communication efforts including printed materials (brochures, newsletter, etc.), on-line presence (school websites), advertising and public relations. Keep the school website Advancement/ Alumni sections current.

 

  • Monitor all student-related communication channels (seneschal, Glen Echoes, in-house television station, newsletters, website, etc.) in an effort to maximize efforts and leverage content for various constituencies.

 

  • Serve as Webmaster for the Alumni Online Community. Develop and manage content, alumni communications. including the Annual Report of Gifts.

 

  • Plan, organize and manage special events for the school.

 

  • Coordinate public relations efforts and keep the media informed of school news including student accomplishments, special programs, alumni functions and other events.

 

  • Serve as non-voting member of the School Advisory Board.

 

  • Maintain contact with the Diocese of Allentown Office of Stewardship and Development and Office of Media Relations.

 

  • Keep abreast of the latest in advancement techniques and utilize the same inn growing the annual appeal and other fundraising opportunities.

 

  • Any other duties as assigned by the Principal or diocese.

Education & Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in journalism, public relations, communications or related field.

 

  • Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE) certification is a plus.

 

  • Proven experience in nonprofit management or higher education institutional advancement with a strong background in fundraising and development.

 

  • Demonstrated success in event planning, proposal writing, grant acquisition, and digital marketing campaigns.

 

  • Proficiency with CRM systems including Donor Perfect, Constant Contact and other database management tools.

 

  • Excellent relationship management skills with the ability to engage diverse stakeholders effectively.

 

  • Strong negotiation skills paired with strategic planning abilities to maximize fundraising outcomes.

 

  • Knowledge of social media management strategies and data collection techniques for performance analysis.

Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit, stoop, bend, push, pull, talk and listen both in person and by telephone. Use of hands to operate standard office equipment with occasional reaching with hands and arms is required. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, and the ability to adjust focus. The employee is continuously interacting with the public, staff and students. The employee frequently must meet multiple demands from several people.

 

Working Conditions: Year-round position; High School office environment. School operation hours are 7:45 a.m. to 3:15 p.m.; Monday through Friday. This position is full-time, 35 hours per week. May be required to work in excess of normal work hours to attend meetings.
