Job Summary
This position is full-time, 3-12hr shifts, Day, M-F with rotating Saturday coverageThe MGH Medical Infusion Center is seeking a full-time (36 hours/week) Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) to join the Medical Infusion Center practice at Boston and Waltham.
The Infusion APP will work within our adult Medical Infusion Centers to serve as an infusion unit first responder, promote infusion services access and efficiency and may provide limited urgent care/symptom management in close collaboration with longitudinal medicine providers.
Primary Responsibilities
• The Medical Infusion Center APP is responsible for the care of medicine patients in the outpatient setting.
• While on the adult infusion unit, oversees the care of patients with complex medical diagnoses serving as a first responder for acute reactions and medical emergencies.
• Works collaboratively with longitudinal medical teams and nursing staff to ensure continuity of care across the care continuum.
• Provides consultation to both nurses and physicians to maintain and improve access to infusion services.
• Applies advanced practice knowledge to identify, prevent or solve complex and/or recurring patient care problems.
• Writes orders which are in accord with current guidelines.
• Maintains and practices in accord with practitioner guidelines per state and hospital regulations.
• Serves on appropriate intra and interdepartmental committees.
• Collaborates with unit staff, Clinical Educators, Clinical Nurse Specialists, Staff Specialists and other health care professionals to meet staff and patient educational needs.
• Monitors patient outcomes in accordance with defined standards of patient care.
• Facilitates patient movement through the system and efficient use of resources through interdepartmental collaboration.
• Supports research efforts to advance knowledge and to promote research-based practice.
• Evaluates own practice and program effectiveness.
• Responsible for own professional growth and maintenance of required credentials.
• Maintains the standards and educational requirements specific to the position and licensure.
• Identifies own learning needs and goals.
Ideal candidate will have:
• Minimum of 3 years of proven experience as an APP is preferred
• EPIC experience preferred
• DEA and MCSR is required ACLS certification is preferred
• First responder experienced is preferred.
Demonstrated competence in the care of the adult medical patient:
• Ability to effectively communicate clinical information and plan of care to medical and lay audiences; able to educate patients and their families regarding routine and complex medical information.
• Skilled in creating appropriate documentation and use of electronic medical records.
• Solid organizational and time management skills.
• Ability to work independently as well as a member of a team; can optimally influence and lead as necessary.
• Effectively uses analytical skills and problem-solving techniques in both clinical and operational matters.

Master's Degree Nursing or Physician Assistant required

Experience
Experience as a nurse practitioner or physician assistant 0-1 year preferred

- Skilled in taking medical histories to assess medical condition and interpret findings.
- Ability to maintain quality control standards.
- Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations.
- Ability to interpret, adapt and apply guidelines and procedures.
