Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems is seeking a Senior Principal Engineer Environmental to join our team of qualified professional in St. Augustine, FL.

Key Roles and Responsibilities Include:

  • Perform air quality program permitting and compliance activities.
  • Complete Air Program and local regulatory agency compliance reporting.
  • Refrigerant Management Program, Portable Equipment Registration Program (PERP), Truck and Bus, and Diesel Off-Road and
  • Large Spark Ignition (LSI) requirements.
  • Support audits and inquiries from regulatory agencies.
  • Assist in planning for changes at the site, reviewing new or modified equipment and new manufacturing programs to meet regulatory and company requirements.
  • Implement Air Program and regulatory compliance procedures for the site including training for managers and employees.
  • Monitor and analyze the developing trends and changes in regulatory compliance laws, rules and regulations.
  • Review and analyze environmental documentation issued by the federal EPA, state and local regulatory agencies.
  • Determine impact of regulatory landscape on company operations and develop compliance strategies and requirements.
  • Support other environmental compliance programs in chemical and hazardous waste management, wastewater compliance and safety compliance. environmental sustainability.
  • Responsible for environmental and regulatory compliance. They will administer existing policies as well as adhere to and update standards to support regulatory compliance and provide guidance for site operations.
  • Review and monitor metrics and create risk analyses, following EPA as well as state (FDEP) and local government regulatory agency regulations and mandates.
  • Work with internal and external partners that include government entities, contractors, consultants, design, construction, engineering, operations, and other key departments.
  • Work with regulations and policies related to, but not limited to: the Clean Air Act, Clean Water Act, EPCRA, and RCRA.
  • Must have excellent communication skills, environmental regulatory knowledge, risk analysis skills, and experience working with teams for complex and technical projects.
  • Perform incident analysis and participate in root cause and corrective action investigations to determine causal factors and the most appropriate corrective actions.
  • Provide support at the site level for Sustainability Program efforts and strategies including but not limited to:
    • Reduction in the site’s overall greenhouse gas footprint
    • Water reuse/recycling programs
    • Waste Management reduction initiatives, including reviewing and improving the site’s recycling program
    • Energy management programs, including but not limited to renewable energy
    • Presenting Sustainability performance metrics and initiatives to site leadership
    • Collect, analyze and enter relevant data in Sustainability data management systems to support site and sector Sustainability Metrics
    • Tracking sustainability footprint trajectory at site and influencing new growth or other site changes that may occur


Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree and 9 years of experience in environmental science or master’s degree and 7 years of related experience.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to solve complex problems by actively seeking information and new ideas from a variety of sources; consistently looking for novel ways to solve problems; mastering unfamiliar information, tasks and situations quickly and effectively.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Defense (DoD) Secret clearance (U.S. Citizenship required).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous DoD, Military or Aerospace facilities experience.
  • 2 or more years of experience working with regulatory agencies and submitting permit documentation
  • ISO 14001 Lead Auditor Certification

Primary Level Salary Range: $111,700.00 - $167,500.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
