Leidos has an opening for a Facilities Engineer in Reston, Virginia. The primary focus of the group is understanding commercial, strategic and heavy industrial facilities and interoperability of systems managed by industrial control systems and/or building management systems.
Successful candidates must bring a creative, yet sound, approach to identifying and solving challenges with these interrelated systems in a customer setting and have exceptional attention to detail and a commitment to thoroughness.
The successful candidate will work as a member of an interdisciplinary team of government and contractor personnel conducting strategic and critical facility analysis. Work will be performed in a fast-paced, high-energy environment within a government SCIF facility.
Role and Responsibility:
The candidate shall perform the following as part of a characterization team:
Systematically integrate all-source intelligence, geotechnical data, topographical data, facility expertise, and facilities design and maintenance principles and best practices to describe heavy industrial facility function (mission) and physical configuration, including layout, physical structure, mission systems, support systems, 3D modeling, functional engineering modeling and assessing corresponding vulnerabilities
Provide practical “hands-on” guidance and judgment on facility infrastructure design, specification and installation throughout the characterization process to produce accurate intelligence estimates and customer directed products
Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to successfully brief and interact with personnel at all levels of experience, including Senior Officials
Required Experience, Clearance, Skills, & Education:
- Active TS/SCI clearance required, with the willingness and ability to obtain a polygraph as quickly as the government will permit. U.S. Citizenship required.
- Bachelor's degree and 4+ years of relevant experience, or Master's degree and 2+ years of relevant experience. Relevant professional experience, military experience, industry certifications, or technical training may be considered in lieu of a degree.
- Demonstrated understanding of engineering concepts, industry standards, and best practices related to facility infrastructure and building systems.
- Experience supporting the design, construction, commissioning, operation, or maintenance of mechanical, electrical, life-safety, and controls systems within commercial, government, industrial, or manufacturing facilities.
- Knowledge of facility planning, operations, maintenance, physical security considerations, and applicable building codes and standards.
- Experience specifying, installing, operating, or maintaining:
- HVAC systems
- Electrical power systems
- Security systems
- Building Management Systems (BMS)
- Industrial Control Systems (ICS)
- Ability to interpret and analyze technical documentation, including:
- Sequences of operation
- OEM manuals
- Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs)
- Electrical one-lines and schematics
- HVAC control diagrams
- Construction and design drawings
- Strong ability to review and interpret both digital and hard-copy engineering and construction documents.
Preferred Qualifications:
Facility planning experience including servicing and installing utilities equipment within industrial environments
Experience with Autodesk Revit, Autodesk AutoCAD, or Building Information Modeling (BIM) software and practices
Experience with Industrial HVAC, Central Plant Utilities, Uninterrupted Power Supplies, Industrial Process, Water/Wastewater, Data Centers, Cogen Plants, or Combined Cooling, Heating & Power
Fire Protection Engineering degree or related professional certifications.
Knowledge of fire protection codes to be able to perform design calculations and conduct engineering assessments
Knowledge of fire protection systems integration with building or industrial control systems (BCS/ICS)
Professional Engineering Certification
Military or defense-related experience

Pay Range:
Pay Range $73,450.00 - $132,775.00The Leidos pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary.
