Job Description
The Accelerated (ABSN) Clinical Adjunct faculty in the Oxley College of Health Sciences are utilized to expand the clinical offerings through the college by providing additional teaching resources or bringing subject area experts into the clinical setting. ABSN clinical adjunct faculty are hired to teach a specific clinical practicum rotation during an academic semester. They do not have other responsibilities within the academic unit, unless specifically outlined. ABSN clinical adjunct faculty report directly to the ABSN program director.
- Provide a written clinical schedule to students with expected start & end times.
- Provide clinical instruction on the days & times clinical is scheduled.
- Provide a learning environment that encourages student participation and leads to student learning while upholding the TU SON & Baccalaureate Mission.
- Provide regular, appropriate clinical feedback to students as well as regular communication throughout each clinical day. Regularly check your TU email.
- Be responsive to communication from students, faculty, and administrators through email, phone calls, or other means.
- Responsible for supervising students in reaching the required number of practicum hours as outlined in the ABSN clinical adjunct offer letter.
- Attend meetings as requested by the Department Chair.
- Follow all TU policies, procedures and online teaching expectations.
- Orientation training to university and college operations and expectations. The academic unit may provide additional orientation depending on the class being taught.
- Textbooks or other course material, as needed.
- A TU email address to facilitate communication with students, faculty, and administrators.
- Access to required TU systems for teaching.
- Training on TU systems, as needed.
- Access to McFarlin Library.
Required Qualifications:
- Minimum of a Masters’s degree in nursing.
- Subject matter expertise in the clinical setting, to be determined by the academic unit.
- An unencumbered professional nursing license in the state where clinical practicum is being conducted.
- Professional experience in the content-related area.
- Successful completion of a criminal background check and other program requirements (agency compliance & BLS certificate).
Certification in a content-related area, as required.
Previous college / university clinical teaching experience.
