Key Responsibilities
• Review construction activities for compliance with contract documents, codes, and VA standards.
• Analyze contractor work to identify deficiencies, inconsistencies, and non-conforming conditions.
• Support preparation and review of construction documents, plans, and specifications.
Financial Management & Cost Control
• Review contractor pay applications and validate progress against completed work.
• Assist with preparation, evaluation, and documentation of change orders and cost proposals.
Scheduling & Project Controls
• Maintain and review project schedules, identifying risks and delays.
• Track progress against milestones and recommend corrective actions.
• Support schedule coordination between stakeholders and contractors.
Documentation & Reporting
• Maintain comprehensive project documentation including RFIs, submittals, meeting minutes, and logs.
• Track project correspondence, records, and contractual documentation.
• Support preparation of reports for leadership and contracting personnel.
Meetings & Coordination
• Participate in and support weekly progress meetings with stakeholders.
• Coordinate communication between contractors, government personnel, and project teams.
• Assist in resolving project issues and facilitating alignment across all parties.
Quality Assurance & Inspections
• Conduct site inspections to monitor quality and ensure compliance with specifications.
• Track deficiencies and ensure timely resolution.
• Support testing and inspection processes across multiple construction disciplines.
Operational Impact & Risk Management
• Evaluate construction impacts on active medical center operations.
• Support phasing plans to maintain patient care, safety, and facility operations.
• Identify risks related to safety, access, utilities, and environmental conditions.
Required Qualifications
• Ability to pass a federal background investigation and obtain VA PIV badge
• Minimum of three (3) years of construction experience or equivalent education/experience
• Demonstrated experience supporting construction administration activities (RFIs, submittals, change orders, documentation)
• Working knowledge of construction practices, QA/QC, scheduling, and cost control
• Experience reviewing contractor work and identifying deficiencies relative to construction documents
• Strong communication, coordination, and documentation skills
Professional Qualifications
• Experience monitoring construction for quality assurance and compliance
• Understanding of baseline schedules and progress tracking
• Ability to support analysis of cost, schedule, and performance data
• Proficiency in construction management software and Microsoft Office tools
