Job Description
Essential Job Function:
- Follows treatment plans and parameters to deliver precise radiation doses to targeted areas, minimizing damage to surrounding healthy tissues.
- Positions and immobilizes patients on treatment tables, ensuring they are in the correct posture for effective radiation targeting.
- Conducts pre-treatment verifications, which involve ensuring that equipment settings align with the prescribed treatment plan.
- Conducts procedure simulations and provides patients with explanations about treatment procedures, potential side effects, and what to expect during their sessions.
- Offers patients emotional support, addressing concerns and promoting a comfortable treatment experience.
- Implements measures to protect patients, staff, and themselves from unnecessary radiation exposure during treatment sessions.
- Documents treatment details, equipment settings, patient reactions, and any observations.
- Monitors patients for any adverse reactions and communicate effectively with the healthcare team about any changes or concerns.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Education:
- Required: Graduate of an accredited Radiation Therapy Technology program.
Experience:
- Preferred: 2 years of experience as a registered radiation therapist.
Licensure/Certification/Listing:
- Required: Certification by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists in Radiation Therapy; BLS (CPR)-American Red Cross or AHA Healthcare Provider.
